Dispatcher / Logistics Coordinator — Tractor-Trailer Operations Unified Disposal Partners (UDP) Location: Roseland, NJ | Full-time Unified Disposal Partners is seeking an experienced Dispatcher / Logistics Coordinator to oversee daily tractor-trailer operations transporting waste from our transfer stations to designated landfills. This is a hands-on role for someone who can manage drivers, coordinate third-party trucking companies, solve transportation problems, and use operating data to improve productivity and safety. Responsibilities Plan and manage daily dispatch across multiple transfer stations and landfills, ensuring adequate trucking capacity and timely movement of waste. Coordinate UDP’s in-house drivers and third-party trucking companies, balancing schedules, equipment availability, facility hours, and transportation costs. Monitor drivers throughout the day using GPS and fleet management systems to track loads, turnaround times, delays, idle time, and route efficiency. Maximize loads and tons hauled per truck while reducing unnecessary mileage, downtime, and cost per ton. Recruit, interview, and help hire qualified tractor-trailer drivers; coordinate onboarding and communicate performance expectations. Track driver safety metrics, identify concerns, and work with operations and safety personnel on coaching and corrective action. Coordinate with transfer station managers, landfill personnel, and maintenance teams to resolve delays, equipment issues, and service disruptions. Manage third-party carrier performance, including reliability, capacity, rates, and service quality. Maintain accurate dispatch records and provide daily reporting on loads, tons hauled, driver productivity, trucking costs, and safety. Hold drivers and carriers accountable for safe, reliable, and productive operations. Qualifications Experience in trucking dispatch, transportation logistics, or fleet coordination; waste hauling experience preferred. Experience managing company drivers and third-party carriers. Working knowledge of tractor-trailer operations, driver scheduling, hours-of-service requirements, and transportation safety. Comfortable using GPS, telematics, dispatch software, and Excel to monitor performance and make decisions. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and respond quickly in a fast-paced operating environment. Driver recruiting and hiring experience preferred.
