HDZ Transportation Co. / Global Logistics Group LLCLogistics Coordinator – Freight Brokerage / 3PL Company: Global Logistics Group (GLG Freight) Location: In Person Job Type: Full-Time Compensation: $45-000 to $55,000 Job Summary Global Logistics Group (GLG Freight) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator to support daily freight brokerage operations. This position is responsible for sourcing and coordinating carrier capacity, managing freight movement, and ensuring the efficient execution of shipments within a fast-paced transportation environment. The Logistics Coordinator serves as a primary point of communication between carriers, Account Managers, the Accounting team, and internal operations while maintaining shipment visibility, accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer service. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, sound decision-making, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCarrier Coordination & Relationship Management Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers to ensure reliable freight coverage. Source and secure qualified carriers to transport freight safely and efficiently. Build and expand a dependable carrier network to support operational goals. Verify equipment compatibility and operational requirements before assigning shipments. Ensure carrier compliance documents remain current before dispatching freight. Shipment Management & Visibility Monitor shipments from pickup through delivery. Maintain continuous shipment tracking and visibility. Communicate shipment updates to carriers, customers, and Account Managers. Proactively identify and resolve shipment exceptions. Maintain accurate shipment notes within the Transportation Management System (TMS). Ensure shipment information is complete before escalating operational concerns. Freight Execution & Negotiation Negotiate transportation rates within established pricing guidelines. Evaluate carrier options and present recommendations to Account Managers. Review carrier performance and eligibility before dispatch. Monitor freight market conditions, pricing trends, and carrier capacity. Collaborate with Account Managers to ensure successful freight coverage. Documentation & Compliance Obtain and verify clean Proofs of Delivery (PODs). Manage carrier onboarding documentation. Maintain carrier compliance files. Ensure Bills of Lading (BOLs), PODs, and shipment documentation are complete and accurate. Follow all company policies, operational procedures, and transportation regulations. Internal Collaboration Partner with the Accounting team to support timely carrier payments. Respond promptly to documentation requests and billing inquiries. Communicate operational issues affecting customer service or payment processing. Escalate unresolved issues to Logistics Management. Maintain professional communication with internal departments and external business partners. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. One (1) to three (3) years of experience in logistics, freight brokerage, transportation, or supply chain operations preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities. Ability to prioritize multiple shipments simultaneously. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word). Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Preferred Qualifications Freight brokerage or third-party logistics (3PL) experience. Experience negotiating transportation rates. Familiarity with transportation documentation, including: Bills of Lading (BOLs) Proofs of Delivery (PODs) Carrier compliance documentation Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS), including McLeod or similar software.
