Logistics Coordinator

Logistics Coordinator Location: SIGNAL Coffee Roasters, LLC, 2711 Encinal Avenue, Alameda, CA 94501 Reports to: Owner and CFO Employment Type: 25 to 30 hours weekly We're looking for an experienced Logistics Coordinator to manage the inventory and operational functions across our cafés, kitchen, and farmer’s markets. This is a hands-on role for one who thrives at the intersection of food, people, and systems. You'll be the operational backbone that keeps our stores stocked, our kitchen running smoothly, and our menu profitable. Menu & Kitchen Coordination ● Actively building out a more robust inventory management system (IMS) and supporting commissary implementation of MarginEdge for usage/waste tracking ● Track costs, activity, and profitability; evaluate and improve systems and processes for efficiency ● Partner with leadership/ownership on pricing and menu changes, and provide regular management updates Kitchen & Team Coordination ● Schedule and lightly on-site supervise kitchen staff across stations (lead cook, prep cooks, bakers, dishwashers, drivers) in partnership with leadership/ownership ● Manage prep and dish teams for production quality and supply levels ● Ensure food storage, kitchen cleanliness, and organization meet health and safety standards ● Coordinate prep timing with kitchen and delivery schedules Ordering & Inventory ● Oversee ordering of materials, supplies, and ingredients for kitchen, cafes, and markets based on demand ● Monitor inventory and conduct weekly assessments; manage vendor relationships and sourcing ● Create, revise, and manage store-level ordering sheets in the inventory management system ● Lead store-level fulfillment of prepped foods, coffee, milk, paper goods, bottled beverages, and other essentials ● Build packing lists for the Commissary Packer and finalize delivery documentation ● Communicate outages/shortages to store staff ● Field inventory-related questions on Slack Vendor & Delivery ● Manage delivery service providers, placing store orders twice weekly ● Own vendor communication and relationship management ● Oversee invoicing and resolve delivery discrepancies reported by stores ● Serve as liaison between vendors and SIGNAL leadership What We're Looking For ● Proven experience in food service operations management ● Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple stores, vendors, and moving parts at once ● Comfort with cost analysis, budgeting, and sales data ● Clear communicator who can lead a team and coordinate across departments ● Familiarity with inventory management systems (or eagerness to help build one) ● Flexible, hands-on problem solver who's equally comfortable in the kitchen and behind a spreadsheet
