Logistics Coordinator

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Logistics Coordinator to join our Logistics team. The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring domestic transportation activities, ensuring the efficient and timely movement of goods between warehouses, suppliers, manufacturing facilities, and customers. This role requires strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience working with transportation providers, third-party logistics (3PL) partners, and internal teams to ensure operational efficiency, cost optimization, and high levels of customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Coordinate daily inland transportation activities, including inbound and outbound shipments, warehouse transfers, and customer deliveries. Schedule and manage freight movements with carriers, trucking companies, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs). Coordinate Full Truckload (FTL), Less Than Truckload (LTL), and other transportation services based on shipment requirements. Monitor shipments from pickup through final delivery, ensuring on-time performance and proactively addressing delays. Arrange transportation for temperature-sensitive and food-grade products when applicable. Ensure accurate preparation and processing of transportation documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOL), Proof of Delivery (POD), and shipping records. Carrier & Vendor Management Maintain strong relationships with transportation providers, freight brokers, and logistics partners. Request and compare freight quotes to ensure competitive transportation rates. Evaluate carrier performance based on delivery reliability, service quality, and cost efficiency. Assist in negotiating freight rates and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Investigate freight claims, damages, and service-related issues with carriers. Cost Control & Reporting Review and validate freight invoices against agreed rates and transportation services provided. Monitor transportation expenses and identify opportunities to optimize freight costs. Maintain accurate logistics records, shipment tracking information, and operational reports. Track and report key logistics performance indicators (KPIs), including on-time delivery, freight costs, carrier performance, and shipment accuracy. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance transportation efficiency and reduce operational costs. Compliance & Documentation Ensure transportation activities comply with applicable DOT regulations, company policies, and safety standards. Coordinate shipments in accordance with food safety and handling requirements, including applicable FDA and FSMA transportation regulations. Maintain accurate transportation documentation and records for internal reviews and audits. Support traceability requirements and proper handling procedures for food ingredients and other sensitive materials. Qualifications & RequirementsEducation & Experience Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 2–4 years of experience in domestic transportation, logistics coordination, freight management, or supply chain operations. Experience working with trucking companies, freight brokers, warehouses, and 3PL providers. Familiarity with FTL, LTL, and domestic freight transportation processes. Experience in the food, beverage, ingredients, or manufacturing industries is a plus. Knowledge of transportation regulations, freight documentation, and logistics best practices. Technical Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications. Experience with ERP, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
