Logistics Coordinator Essential Duties

  • Schedules and processes arriving and departing barges, trucks, tankers, and railcars; assigns loads as required
  • Prepares daily, monthly and other interval schedules based upon customer needs
  • Plan EG pipeline transfers from production to shore tank; plan product sampling and analysis schedule for vessel loadings
  • Works as an extension of both Operations and Sales for scheduling activities
  • Establishes relationships with various carriers required to move product; creates orders 
  • Works outside regular office hours when necessary
  • Utilizes databases for logistics movements
  • Maintains efficient traffic flow through facility; keeps all systems and paperwork current during peak traffic hours 
  • Processes work instructions for all modes of transportation
  • Monitors dock schedule; avoids conflicts with tank usage
  • Handles arrangements for rail shipments in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Identifies problems, current and proactive, and troubleshoots; follows up on product movements 
  • Liaises with corporate logistics function; coordinates scheduling  
  • Acts as a logistics team member, trains other Logistics Coordinators as requested
  • Creates and obtains approval for orders; documents cost data
  • Calculates vessel and rail demurrage when required
  • Manages surveys; arranges for and tracks work
  • Completes Bills of Lading as required; prepares and disseminates hazardous materials documents as necessary
  • Handles import/export paperwork and arrangements; works with government authorities to ensure proper documentation as required
  • Acts as liaison between Company and customer when necessary
  • Declares and confirms orders in database system; review and approve logistics invoices for payments as necessary; update monthly supply chain budget and cost review


KSA's

  • 4-7 years’ logistics experience in petrochemical or oil and gas markets
  • Customer service focus; ability to deal with diverse personalities; negotiation and conflict resolution skills required
  • Knowledge of Company processes and infrastructure; ability to locate customer information including contracts 
  • Strong mathematics skills, ability to calculate weights/volumes 
  • Ability to communicate with loaders, dock workers, customers, and co-workers
  • Possess a thorough understanding of U.S. Customs and Border Protection requirements for goods entering and leaving the United States
  • Knowledge of operational and administrative requirements for products
  • Understanding of customer’s logistics processes; operations experience preferred
  • Strong mathematics skills, ability to calculate weights/volumes and demurrage claims
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials movement requirements and federal, state and other transportation statutes and regulations
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignments
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to use database systems and other programs and applications used by this position and at Company
  • Fluent in English language including reading, writing and speaking; ability to read and write at a minimum of high school level; ability to clearly communicate to all levels in organization


Educational Requirement

BS Degree in Supply Chan Management, Logistics, Business. or similar field highly preferred
