SUMMARY

Responsible for the safe, secure, and timely delivery of materials to customers. Responsible for the timely and accurate receipt of incoming materials. Responsible for delivering quality products and services. In addition to maintaining consistent quality, ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and environmental standards, recommending improvements where necessary. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Develops, implements, and manages processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery.
  • Identifies and sets appropriate quality standards and parameters for products.
  • Establishes quality control at all stages of production.
  • Develops quality analysis worksheets, report forms and checklist.
  • Works with sales and materials management teams to define customer quality needs.
  • Communicates quality standards and parameters to teams and other appropriate staff.
  • Works with production to alter schedules as needed to maintain optimum customer service.
  • Investigates customer and branch complaints promptly and makes every attempt to recover. 
  • Reports receipt of damaged, defective, and/or otherwise unacceptable material to appropriate personnel.
  • Communicates production lead time changes and schedules to company personnel as appropriate.
  • Maintains time records for production of materials.
  • Implement and conducts audits ensuring quality standards, safety and legal requirements, and company policies and specifications are met.
  • Manages the coordination of transportation providers to ensure on time and lowest cost delivery performance. (LSC Specific).
  • Manages shipping, receiving and staging schedules to maximize production time.
  • Reports receipt of damaged, defective, and/or otherwise unacceptable material to appropriate personnel.


MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages the logistics team, material handlers, and drivers to ensure effective receiving and shipping of materials in a safe and secure manner.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

College degree in business administration, process management, environmental health and safety, or related field preferred, 2-3 years’ experience in quality assurance, safety, or similar field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of a metal processing environment strongly desired.


CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

· Quality Assurance Certification a strong plus. 


SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with site personnel, inspectors, and internal and external vendors required.
  • Excellent written communication skills/technical writing ability.
  • Ability to be self-directed, prioritize work and perform multiple tasks.
  • Excellent data collection and analysis skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve problems in a timely manner.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, advanced skills needed for Excel. 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Frequently is required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Requires ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels, dust, dirt, fumes, and coil processing machines. The metal processing center is not climate controlled.
