Duties Safely operate tractor-trailers equipped with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, or tanker units to transport hazardous materials and freight within local routes. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and cargo to ensure compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Load and unload cargo manually or using logistics cargo handling equipment, ensuring proper securing of hazardous and non-hazardous goods according to hazardous materials regulations. Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems, planning optimal paths for timely deliveries while complying with all traffic laws. Deliver freight directly to customer locations, managing delivery documentation accurately and obtaining signatures upon receipt. Maintain safety standards during transportation of dangerous goods, including proper handling of hazardous materials and adherence to hazard communication protocols. Perform routine truck maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues promptly to minimize downtime. Experience Proven experience in commercial truck driving, particularly with tractor-trailer units such as flatbeds and tankers. Prior delivery driver experience with a focus on route driving in local or regional settings. Knowledge of refrigerated trailer operations and automobile transportation is advantageous. Familiarity with manual transmission trucks and manual handling techniques for cargo loading/unloading. Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols related to dangerous goods transportation. Skilled in using GPS navigation tools for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments. Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for Hazmat (Hazardous Materials) and Tanker operations is required.
