Local Truck Driver

Job Summary Continental Express Inc is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious, and hardworking Local Truck Driver to support daily transportation and delivery operations. In this role, you will operate an assigned truck to transport goods between local facilities, businesses, warehouses, and customer locations. Responsibilities include following designated routes, completing vehicle inspections, securing cargo, maintaining delivery records, and ensuring shipments arrive safely and on schedule. Key Responsibilities Operate company-assigned trucks to transport goods within designated local service areas. Follow assigned routes, delivery schedules, and dispatch instructions. Pick up and deliver shipments to businesses, warehouses, and customer locations. Load, unload, and secure cargo according to company procedures and safety standards. Verify shipment quantities, delivery addresses, and order documentation. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Monitor vehicle condition and report mechanical issues or maintenance needs. Maintain accurate trip logs, delivery records, and proof-of-delivery documentation. Communicate with dispatchers about traffic conditions, route changes, delays, and delivery issues. Follow applicable traffic laws, transportation regulations, and company safety policies. Ensure cargo is properly secured and protected during transportation. Obtain customer signatures and confirm completed deliveries when required. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the assigned truck. Report accidents, incidents, damaged goods, and other safety concerns promptly. Provide courteous and professional service during customer interactions. Complete assigned routes efficiently while maintaining safe driving practices. Requirements and Qualifications Valid driver's license appropriate for the assigned truck. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required when applicable to the vehicle and jurisdiction. Previous local truck driving or delivery experience is preferred. Knowledge of traffic laws, road safety, and vehicle inspection procedures. Ability to follow delivery schedules, routes, and dispatch instructions. Good communication and customer service skills. Dependable, punctual, and responsible work habits. Ability to complete basic delivery paperwork and maintain accurate records. Ability to load, unload, lift, or carry cargo within safe physical limits. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cargo safety. Ability to work independently and coordinate with transportation personnel. Flexibility to work assigned shifts and occasional schedule changes. Work Environment This position involves operating a truck on local routes in varying traffic and weather conditions. Daily tasks may include driving, loading and unloading shipments, inspecting vehicles, completing delivery paperwork, and communicating with customers and dispatch personnel.
