Responsibilities Safely operate flatbed trucks, including tractor-trailers equipped for freight transportation across local routes. Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling of freight, including hazardous materials and dangerous goods when applicable. Navigate using GPS systems to follow optimized routes, ensuring timely deliveries while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Secure loads properly on flatbeds, utilizing manual handling techniques and equipment to prevent damage during transit. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, checking for mechanical issues, safety hazards, and compliance with all trucking regulations. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving, particularly with flatbed or tanker trailers. Strong knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures and logistics cargo handling. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time adjustments. Ability to drive manual transmission trucks confidently and safely over various routes including over-the-road (OTR) driving routes. Understanding of hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat) when transporting dangerous goods or hazardous substances. Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) standards, and hazardous materials regulations to ensure compliance at all times. Excellent driving skills with experience in delivery driving, route driving, and freight handling. Ability to manage manual handling tasks efficiently while maintaining safety standards. Strong communication skills for effective coordination with dispatch teams and customers. Comfortability in securement of different commodities, NOT INCLUDING COILS, WE DO NOT HAUL COILS.
