Load Planner/Dispatcher

Job Title: Load Planner Company: CTI Transport Location: Harlan, Indiana (or as assigned) Reports To: General Manager Position Summary CTI Transport is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Load Planner to coordinate freight movements, maximize equipment utilization, and ensure on-time service for customers. The Load Planner is an onsite role that, responsible for planning and optimizing daily loads, communicating with drivers, and maintaining efficient routing to support company profitability and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Plan and schedule daily freight movements utilizing company and brokered equipment. Optimize load assignments to maximize equipment utilization and minimize empty miles. Coordinate pickup and delivery schedules with customers, drivers, and dispatchers. Monitor load progress and proactively address service issues, delays, or capacity challenges. Balance driver availability, Hours of Service (HOS) compliance, and customer requirements when planning loads. Work closely with customers, and operations to ensure efficient execution of transportation plans. Identify opportunities to improve route efficiency and reduce transportation costs. Maintain accurate load, shipment, and routing information. Communicate load changes, special instructions, and service updates to drivers and customers. Assist in securing backhauls and minimizing deadhead mileage. Review freight availability and market conditions to support operational planning. Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and customer requirements. Generate and review operational reports related to load planning and fleet utilization. Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED. Some transportation, dispatch, logistics, or fleet planning experience preferred. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and transportation management systems. Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication and customer service skills. Preferred Experience in truckload, flatbed, specialized, or freight transportation operations. Knowledge of routing, capacity planning, and load optimization. Familiarity with ELD systems, HOS regulations, and DOT compliance requirements. Experience using load boards and freight management software.
