Location: Secaucus, NJ (On-site) Job Type: Full-time Salary: $100,000 - $140,000 a year Important Commute Requirement: This is a 100% in-person, full-time position located at our office in Secaucus, NJ. Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available . Candidates must reside within a practical, daily commuting distance of Secaucus and have reliable transportation, considering local Northern New Jersey/tri-state traffic. Position Summary Trystum Sourcing Specialists is seeking an experienced, hands-on Licensed Customs Broker / Senior Entry Writer to manage import customs transactions end-to-end. Beyond processing entries, you will deliver technical guidance, regulatory supervision, operational support to the import team, and potentially serve as the company’s designated Corporate Customs Broker License Holder . This is not a compliance-only or management-only role. The successful candidate will actively prepare customs entries, handle complex air/ocean/border transactions, communicate directly with clients, and mentor entry clerks. Key Responsibilities Customs Entry Operations: Prepare, review, transmit, and monitor air, ocean, and border-crossing customs entries from start to finish. Handle entry summaries, In-Bond movements, ISF filings, post-entry corrections, and direct responses to CBP holds, exams, or rejects. Regulatory Oversight & Compliance: Ensure all transactions adhere strictly to CBP regulations (19 CFR), Partner Government Agencies (PGAs), and internal protocols. Research HTS classification, valuation, and origin rules while upholding CBP's Responsible Supervision and Control standards. Client & Account Management: Manage assigned customer accounts, address documentation/classification queries, resolve compliance issues, and coordinate with ocean lines, airlines, terminals, and warehouses. Team Leadership & Mentorship: Audit entries and commercial documentation prepared by junior team members. Provide daily technical guidance, train Import Specialists on proper system usage, and enforce operational accuracy. Process Optimization: Identify recurring documentation or entry errors, streamline entry review workflows, standardize recordkeeping, and minimize avoidable CBP delays. Required Qualifications Active U.S. Customs Broker License (LCB) (Required). 5+ years of hands-on, daily customs brokerage and import compliance experience. Current, direct experience personally preparing and filing customs entries from start to finish. Deep technical knowledge of CBP regulations (19 CFR), ACE, HTS classification, ISF, and PGA protocols. Proven experience handling both ocean and air import procedures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Must live within a practical daily commuting distance of Secaucus, NJ and be available for full-time on-site work. Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of progressive customs brokerage experience. Extensive hands-on experience using Descartes (One View) customs brokerage software. Familiarity with ACE and DIS platforms. Demonstrated success in training, mentoring, or supervising entry writers and Import Specialists. Experience handling specialized or PGA-regulated commodities (e.g., machinery, automotive, chemicals, perishables, electronics). Bilingual (English / Spanish) proficiency is a strong advantage.
