Job Description

Help build a radically better migration experience, and get in early at a company redefining how visas are done in Australia.

If you’re a lawyer who wants more ownership, faster growth, and real-world impact, this role is career-changing for you!

We’re hiring a self-driven lawyer to join a lean, high-performance team. You’ll play a critical role in delivering exceptional migration outcomes for customers while helping build the systems and processes that scale our impact.

This role is ideal for a lawyer who’s curious, commercially minded, and excited by startups. You’ll use your legal training daily, but you’ll also develop a broader operational and business skill set that traditional law firms don’t offer.

What You’ll Be Doing

Own the customer experience

  • Manage end-to-end customer communication, onboarding, and application tracking across skilled and partner visa pathways.

  • Act as a trusted point of contact, guiding customers through complex processes with clarity and empathy.

Deliver excellent legal outcomes

  • Work closely with senior lawyers and migration experts to prepare, review, and submit high-quality visa applications.

  • Complete government forms, coordinate evidence, and ensure applications meet all regulatory requirements.

Improve how they work

  • Identify workflow bottlenecks and help design better tools, templates, and processes to improve speed, quality, and consistency.

  • Contribute to building scalable systems that support a growing customer base.

Contribute beyond your lane

  • Collaborate across the business on growth and operational initiatives: from internal training to refining customer communications.

  • Wear multiple hats as needed in a fast-moving startup environment.

What are we looking for?

Must-have

  • 1–3 years’ experience as a lawyer in any jurisdiction, admitted in Australia with a current practising certificate.

  • A demonstrated track record of high performance (academics, professional experience, or extracurriculars).

  • Strong ownership mentality: you take responsibility, spot problems early, and follow things through.

  • Customer-first mindset with excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication.

  • High attention to detail and the ability to stay organised under pressure.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in migration law or legal tech.

  • Familiarity with tools like HubSpot, Notion, or Slack.

  • Interest in or baseline knowledge of the Australian visa system (we’ll train you).

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Own real outcomes: End-to-end responsibility, not tiny slices of matters.

  • Accelerated growth: Build legal, operational, and startup skills — fast.

  • Early-stage upside: Join early, shape the company, share in the upside (meaningful ESOP).

  • Work that matters: Help people make life-changing moves to Australia.

  • No law-firm baggage: High standards, low ego, zero billable-hour theatre.

  • A genuine alternative to firm life: Practise law and build something.
