Lead Solar Installer Needed!
Scudder Solar Energy SystemsJob Summary We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Lead Residential Solar Installer to join our dynamic team. Take charge of the electrical and installation work that brings clean energy to homes across our community. Reporting to the Solar Superintendent and Solar Production Manager, you'll lead crews from start to finish, making sure every project is done safely, on schedule, on budget, and up to code. You'll be the go-to person on site and a mentor to your team, helping the next generation of installers build their skills. Your leadership will drive successful project completion while maintaining high standards of electrical safety and craftsmanship. Responsibilities Lead installation crews in completing residential solar projects systems, including rooftop and ground-mounted setups as well as batteries/energy storage. Supervise and participate in the installation and wiring of AC and DC components of residential solar systems, including inverters, combiner boxes, disconnects, and load centers. Ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to NEC, local building codes, and utility requirements. Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to execute precise system layouts. Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, voltmeters, and other equipment to install electrical components such as fixtures, wiring, inverters, and disconnects. Train, mentor, and evaluate installation team members. Manage daily workflow, delegate responsibilities, and oversee safety practices on job sites. Coordinate with warehouse and procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of materials. Communicate with clients and inspectors to provide updates and resolve issues. Perform system layout, conduit bending, wire pulling, and panel terminations with precision and safety. Commission and program energy storage systems (ESS) such as Tesla Powerwall and Franklin Whole Home. Serve as the acting Foreman, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope. Coordinate with construction teams on site safety protocols including roofing work and outdoor environment considerations. Maintain detailed documentation of installation processes, safety checks, and compliance records for each project. Education and/or Experience High School Diploma; Technical Certification or Journeyman Electrician License preferred. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in solar PV system installation, including AC/DC circuits. Demonstrated experience supervising installation crews. Proficiency with energy storage systems and hybrid solar + battery configurations. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot swiftly.
