We are seeking a highly skilled and dependable Lead Diesel & Fleet Technician to serve as the senior technician for our on-road fleet maintenance operation. Our fleet includes Ford Super Duty trucks, Toyota Tundras, Peterbilt commercial trucks, and a wide variety of vehicles in between. This position is ideal for an experienced technician who enjoys challenging diagnostics, takes pride in quality workmanship, and has the confidence to tackle complex repairs independently. You’ll work directly with the Shop Manager and have an assigned helper to assist with repairs, maintenance, and daily shop operations. This is a hands-on technical leadership position, not an administrative or shop supervisor role. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Ford Super Duty trucks, including 6.7L Power Stroke diesel engines. Perform diagnostics and repairs on medium- and heavy-duty commercial trucks, including Peterbilt. Diagnose electrical, electronic, engine, transmission, fuel, emissions, and drivetrain systems. Troubleshoot and repair air-brake systems, ABS, steering, suspension, and hydraulic components. Perform preventive maintenance and major mechanical repairs across a diverse fleet. Use diagnostic software, wiring diagrams, and technical service information to accurately identify failures. Provide technical direction and hands-on guidance to an assigned helper. Communicate repair findings, parts requirements, and estimated repair timelines to the Shop Manager. Maintain high standards for safety, workmanship, and equipment reliability. Required Qualifications Significant professional experience in diesel and commercial truck repair. Strong diagnostic and repair experience with Ford Power Stroke diesel engines. Proven ability to work on medium- and heavy-duty trucks. Advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Ability to diagnose complicated problems without relying on guesswork or unnecessary parts replacement. Ability to work independently, prioritize repairs, and take ownership of assigned jobs. Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. Willingness to share knowledge and help develop a less-experienced technician. Preferred Qualifications Ford diesel training or certifications. ASE Medium/Heavy Truck certifications. Experience with Cummins, PACCAR, and other commercial diesel engines. Familiarity with Ford IDS/FDRS and heavy-duty diagnostic platforms. Experience with commercial fleet maintenance. Previous experience mentoring or training junior technicians.
