Lead Buyer Play a Pivotal Role at Jasper Equipment & Supply! Jasper Equipment & Supply is looking for an organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Lead Buyer to join our team! This is an exciting opportunity for someone with purchasing, buying, or procurement experience who enjoys keeping operations running smoothly and wants to make a meaningful impact on a growing business. The Lead Buyer will initially focus on day-to-day purchasing activities across our Jan/San, Safety, Food Service Disposables, and Filtration product categories, helping ensure we have the right products available at the right time and at the right cost. The ideal candidate is a natural organizer, a strong problem-solver, and someone who takes ownership of their work. This individual will build and maintain supplier relationships, manage purchase orders, monitor inventory needs, follow up on deliveries, and work closely with our team to support customer satisfaction. Beyond daily responsibilities, we are looking for someone who brings ideas, initiative, and a desire to continually improve. As they become familiar with our business, there will be opportunities to take on greater responsibility for purchasing strategy, supplier negotiations, inventory optimization, cost savings, and process improvements. Schedule & Compensation Salary: $50,000–$60,000, based on experience Schedule: Monday–Friday Hours: 7:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Key Responsibilities Daily Purchasing: Prepare and manage purchase orders, monitor order status, and ensure products are ordered in a timely manner. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, review demand and usage trends, and help maintain appropriate stock levels to meet customer needs. Supplier Relationships: Communicate with vendors regarding new products, pricing, product availability, lead times, order changes, and delivery schedules. Order Follow-Up: Track outstanding orders, resolve discrepancies, and address purchasing or delivery issues promptly. Organization & Accuracy: Maintain accurate purchasing records and ensure order details, costs, and expected delivery dates are up to date. Cost Awareness: Identify opportunities to improve pricing, reduce unnecessary costs, and purchase more efficiently. Team Collaboration: Work closely with internal team members to coordinate purchasing needs and support smooth daily operations. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, inventory management, supplier performance, and overall efficiency. Qualifications Previous experience in purchasing, buying, procurement, inventory management, or a related role. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities, track open orders, and follow through on outstanding tasks. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Proficiency with computers, spreadsheets, and inventory or purchasing systems. A proactive mindset, with the ability to identify problems, find solutions, and take initiative. A desire to learn, contribute ideas, and take on increasing responsibility. Preferred, but not required: Experience with vendor negotiations, inventory planning, purchasing analysis, or procurement process improvement.
