Laser/Forklift Operator 4:00 PM - 4:00 AM

This job description includes but not limited to operating almond processing lines and similar batch processing equipment. Follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Forklift driver is responsible for moving product, bins, and packaged goods in a safe and efficient manner using a forklift, or floor jack in both warehouse and production environments. Responsibilities: Start and stop equipment Ability to learn the highly technical skill of laser sorting Master the ability to sort Almonds according to the defined strategies of the laser supervisor Ability to provide product to the sorting tables consistently meeting the grade of “Clean to Next Process.” Ability to sort with a high level of efficiency minimizing the need for rework of rejects Ability to recognize product quality in terms of defect level, color and shell counts Ability to identify equipment issues and effectively address or communicate to the appropriate personnel to address the issues Assist with production lines in plant Operation of industrial truck or electric hoist for loading, unloading, storage, and/or movement of all materials to and from warehouse and/or production areas Completion of routine forklift inspections and maintenance logs Assist in cleanup/production area as needed Sweep, mop and remove debris Load and unload items from machines, carts and dollies Feed or place bins on equipment for processing Separate defective product in correct disposal area Ensure conformance to specifications Inform supervisors of damaged or ineffective equipment in the plant Record data accurately Maintain inventory in an organized manner Ensure that all inventory records allow for traceability of the product according to company policies Load and unload processing equipment Take instructions from supervisors Support, participate and enforce, RHNC safety policies and procedures Oversee and direct daily activities of assigned shift Involve daily communication with Production Manager, Leads, Supervisor and all employees Conform to all company policies and report any observed deviation Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed All forklift drivers are expected to be available to work in all areas of plant Regular attendance is required Perform any other work as assigned by supervisor, foreman, or manager Comply with all safety, food safety, GMP and SQF requirements Must perform all positions of rotation, if applicable Follows and ensures adherence to established Rolling Hills Nut Co., local, state, and federal regulations and requirements as well as food safety, sanitation, food production and nutritional guidelines. Established and ensures adherence to procedures and standards, which agree with these regulations, requirements and guidelines. Responsibilities are not limited to the above mentioned and may include assisting other departments within reasonable and related tasks. Qualifications / Skills Ability to perform basic math functions Must be able to read, write, and speak in English (Bi-lingual preferred) Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends as needed At least 1 year of forklift driving experience Positive attitude, high energy, flexibility and personal initiative Forklift Experience Experience in operating mechanical almond processing equipment Physical Demands Will frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, taste and smell. Will seldom sit and occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl. Must use both hands for rapid mental muscular coordination, simultaneously. Must be able to reach high and low levels, frequently. Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 50 pounds frequently.
