Overview The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of laboratory duties including receiving, processing and delivering laboratory specimens from inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and outside institutions. This is a fast-paced environment, working both as a team and independently. Responsibilities Performs quality and receiving functions related to checking patient demographic information, registration, ordering, adding, and canceling tests following all safety rules and regulations. Prints and scans orders into the Laboratory information system. Labels samples and delivers specimens to testing department, loads analyzers, centrifuges and performs specimen processing, restocks inventory, maintains the organized lab space. Performs routine maintenance on laboratory equipment as needed. Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications High school graduate required. Able to complete assignment with minimal direction and adapt to rapidy changing worrkflows. 6 months laboratory experience preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast paced, demanding environment required.
