Laboratory Accessioning Specialist & Courier
S&G Labs Hawaii, LLCAbout the Position S&G Labs is seeking a dependable, organized, and highly detail-oriented Laboratory Accessioning Specialist & Courier to support the daily flow of specimens into our laboratory. The primary focus of this position is laboratory accessioning and specimen receiving , with a smaller portion of the role dedicated to courier responsibilities. The employee will be responsible for accurately receiving, verifying, documenting, and accessioning patient specimens for laboratory testing while also completing scheduled specimen pickups from client locations. Courier stops are currently concentrated in the Aurora area, near the I-25 and I-225 corridor . Courier responsibilities are expected to occur approximately three mornings per week, totaling about five hours per week . The right person understands that every specimen matters. Accuracy in specimen identification, labeling, documentation, transportation, and data entry directly affects our laboratory's ability to process samples efficiently and provide reliable results to our clients. This position is ideal for someone with previous laboratory accessioning or specimen-processing experience who is dependable, enjoys staying busy, follows procedures carefully, and takes pride in getting the details right. What You'll OwnLaboratory Accessioning & Sample Receiving The majority of this position will be dedicated to the laboratory's specimen receiving and accessioning functions. Responsibilities include: Receive incoming laboratory specimens and prepare them for processing. Accurately log and accession specimens into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) . Verify patient information, specimen identification, test orders, labeling, and accompanying documentation. Confirm specimens meet established acceptance requirements before processing. Identify incomplete, missing, damaged, mislabeled, or otherwise unacceptable specimens. Escalate specimen discrepancies and requisition issues promptly to appropriate laboratory personnel. Maintain accurate electronic and physical documentation throughout the accessioning process. Organize specimens according to established laboratory workflows and priorities. Maintain specimen integrity throughout the receiving and accessioning process. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient accessioning and specimen-receiving area. Follow established SOPs, quality standards, safety requirements, and confidentiality procedures. Assist with other laboratory operational needs as assigned. Courier & Specimen Transportation Courier responsibilities currently occur approximately three mornings per week and total approximately five hours per week . The employee will use their personal vehicle to complete scheduled courier routes. Current client pickup locations are generally located in the Aurora area near the I-25 and I-225 corridor , although routes and client locations may change based on laboratory needs. Responsibilities include: Use a personal vehicle to pick up patient specimens from designated client locations and safely transport them to the laboratory. Follow established procedures for proper handling, storage, and transportation of specimens. Maintain specimen integrity and appropriate chain-of-custody throughout transportation. Verify that specimens and accompanying documentation are accounted for before leaving client locations. Maintain accurate pickup, delivery, mileage, and transportation records as required. Communicate promptly with laboratory staff regarding delays, missing specimens, documentation issues, or other concerns. Maintain confidentiality of patient and client information at all times. Represent S&G Labs professionally and courteously when interacting with clients and their staff. Follow all applicable laboratory, safety, transportation, and compliance procedures.
