Employee will be scheduled to work from Monday to Sunday in 3 typical shifts: Early morning shift: 6am - 2:15pm; Day shift (preferred) : 7:00am - 3:15pm; Afternoon shift: 10:30am - 6:45pm. Employee schedules are usually posted at least 2-4 weeks ahead. Due to scheduling and staffing constraints, candidates who have availability to ALL shifts and reliable transportation are preferred . A valid Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within the past 6 months) and a full list of vaccinations records are required before hire. JOB SUMMARY Under the direct supervision of the Head Chef or the Chef on shift, the Kitchen Aide maintains a clean and organized kitchen environment in accordance with health and safety regulations. Responsibilities include washing and sanitizing dishes, preparing ingredients, and assisting with meal assembly and service. The Kitchen Aide ensures that food is prepped and stored correctly, and that kitchen equipment is maintained in a safe and sanitary condition. The Kitchen Aide communicates effectively with team members, assists with inventory management, and performs other related duties as assigned. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Cleaning and Sanitation Responsibilities Establish and maintain food safety, food quality, and employee safety standards by governing Regulations, HACCP, Employer Policy. Wash kitchen wares including dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using dishwashers or by hand, ensuring all items are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Clean and sanitize cooking and food preparation areas, including cooking surfaces and kitchen equipment including stoves, fridges, freezers, sinks, ovens, grills, and exhaust hoods, to prevent cross-contamination, following established health and safety regulations. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly kitchen environment at all times, adhering to assigned cleaning schedules and practices. Sweep, scrub, and mop kitchen floors and vacuum dining areas to ensure cleanliness and prevent slips and falls. Regularly empty and clean garbage containers, ensuring they are maintained in a sanitary condition. Food Preparation Responsibilities Assist cooks and kitchen staff in the preparation of high-quality meals that meet the nutritional needs of residents and guests, using standardized recipes and adhering to healthy, hygiene, and safety standards. Assist with the preparation of food for modified consistency and therapeutic diets. Wash, peel, and cut various fruits and vegetables to prepare for cooking or serving, following safe food handling practices. Prepare a variety of beverages, such as coffee, tea, and soft drinks, ensuring proper presentation and service. Help with the setup and service of special events, banquets, and catering functions, ensuring that all food items are presented attractively and in a timely manner. Receive, unpack, and store food supplies and equipment in designated areas, ensuring proper rotation of stock to minimize waste. Stock cupboards, refrigerators, and serving stations with necessary supplies, maintaining organized and accessible storage areas. Inform supervisors about equipment issues, maintenance needs, and when food supplies are getting low to ensure seamless kitchen operations. Assist in taking and recording temperatures of food storage areas, such as refrigerators and freezers, to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
