Kiln & Yard Operations Lead
OT Timber Frames LtdOT Timber Frames is looking for a reliable, hardworking, and highly organized Yard & Kiln Operations Lead to oversee the flow of timber to and from our kilns while helping maintain a clean, orderly, and efficient yard. You’ll work closely with the design, production, and sawmill teams to ensure the right material is dried, organized, and ready when needed. Key responsibilities include loading and unloading kilns, tracking drying progress, maintaining accurate and accessible inventory, keeping the yard tidy and well organized, and supporting the smooth flow of materials through production. The right candidate is someone who takes initiative, thinks critically, and can apply practical ideas to improve organization, workflow, and day-to-day operations. Strong follow-through, attention to detail, and the ability to stay ahead of production needs are important in this role. This is a hands-on, physical position. You will be on your feet for most of the day, working outdoors in a range of weather conditions, including sun, rain, cold, and snow. Heavy lifting and working around large timber and equipment are regular parts of the job. What You’ll Do Load and unload kilns Move and organize timber before and after drying Coordinate with design, production, the sawmill teams Keep track of what material needs to be dried and when Monitor kiln cycles, moisture levels, and equipment Check and record moisture content Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment Keep kiln areas clean, organized, and safe Help identify equipment or material issues Prepare upcoming kiln loads based on production needs Communicate clearly with the teams relying on kiln-dried material What We’re Looking For Someone who takes initiative, thinks critically, and can apply practical ideas to improve organization, workflow, and day-to-day operations.
