Junior Purchaser
North Central Door Co. LLCJOB SUMMARY: The Junior Buyer supports the purchasing function by sourcing materials, products, and services needed to meet company operational requirements. Working under the guidance of senior purchasing staff, this position assists with supplier communication, purchase orders, pricing, inventory needs, and delivery coordination. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with purchasing materials, products, supplies, and services in accordance with company requirements. Prepare, issue, and maintain purchase orders and related purchasing documentation. Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, order status, and delivery schedules. Monitor open purchase orders and follow up on past-due or delayed deliveries. Assist with obtaining and comparing supplier quotes and evaluating purchasing options. Support senior buyers with supplier negotiations and sourcing activities. Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, purchasing, and item information in the ERP or purchasing system. Review purchasing requirements and assist with replenishment and inventory needs. Work with Production, Receiving, Accounts Payable, and other departments to resolve purchasing issues. Assist in researching new suppliers and maintaining approved supplier information. Help identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve delivery performance, and streamline purchasing processes. Track and report purchasing activity, supplier performance, and other relevant metrics. Assist with resolving discrepancies involving purchase orders, invoices, quantities, pricing, and receipts. Follow company purchasing policies, procedures, and internal controls. Support special projects and continuous-improvement initiatives within the purchasing and supply-chain functions. QUALIFICATIONS: 0–2 years of purchasing, procurement, supply-chain, inventory, or related business experience. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Basic analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Ability to learn and effectively use ERP/MRP and purchasing systems. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external suppliers. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred. Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment. Familiarity with purchase orders, inventory management, supplier management, and basic procurement processes. APICS/ASCM coursework or other supply-chain education is a plus.
