We work with companies in the food processing, pharmaceutical, and beverage industries, designing and building custom conveyor systems, processing equipment, stainless steel assemblies, and turnkey mechanical solutions. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Mechanical Drafter & Engineering Coordinator to join our growing team. This is a hybrid position combining entry-level mechanical drafting, engineering support, drawing coordination, and production operations. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, organized, comfortable working with computers and technical drawings, and interested in developing a career in mechanical design and manufacturing. You will work closely with our engineering/design team, purchasing department, project management, and shop floor personnel to help ensure projects move smoothly from design through fabrication. Key Responsibilities 1. Drafting & Engineering Support Assist the mechanical design team with creating and modifying 2D and 3D drawings using SolidWorks. Support the development of mechanical drawings, layouts, assemblies, and fabrication details. Make drawing revisions and updates based on engineering and shop feedback. Assist with creating bills of materials (BOMs), part lists, and drawing packages. Help organize and maintain engineering drawings and project documentation. Assist with smaller drafting and design assignments as skills develop. 2. Drawing Review & Documentation Control Review engineering drawing packages before they are released to the shop floor. Verify drawings contain necessary dimensions, material specifications, part numbers, quantities, and fabrication details. Help identify missing information, inconsistencies, or incomplete drawings. Ensure shop personnel are working from the latest approved drawing revisions. Maintain organized drawing files and revision records. Coordinate with engineering when clarification or corrections are needed. 3. Purchasing & Material Coordination Work closely with Purchasing to track materials and components required for active projects. Review bills of materials and verify that required items have been identified. Help confirm that materials, hardware, bearings, motors, gearboxes, and other purchased components have been ordered. Track outstanding materials and communicate potential shortages or delays. Follow up with Purchasing on missing or delayed items. Help ensure required materials are available before fabrication begins. 4. Shop Floor & Project Coordination Serve as a communication link between engineering, purchasing, project management, and shop personnel. Help communicate drawing updates, revisions, and technical information to the fabrication team. Assist with identifying missing information or parts that could delay production. Follow up on project requirements to help keep jobs moving. Work with fabricators and shop personnel to understand production needs and communicate issues back to engineering. Assist with maintaining project documentation and tracking job progress. Qualifications Basic experience or education in mechanical drafting, CAD, manufacturing, or a related technical field. Familiarity with SolidWorks or another mechanical CAD program. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints. Basic understanding of mechanical components, materials, and fabrication processes. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications. Strong communication and follow-up skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate with different departments.
