Junior Commodity Trader (Lumber)

Who we're looking for You like the phone, you like competing, and you like being paid for results. You don't need to know lumber. We'll teach you that. What we can't teach is drive, so we look for people who have proven it somewhere, such as: Commission-based or quota-driven sales of any kind Business development, account management or entrepreneurship Competitive sports at a varsity, provincial or national level Any role where you built relationships from scratch and got results Recent grads and people with a few years of experience are both welcome. A degree in Business, Finance, Economics or similar helps but isn't required. About Vantage Vantage Commodities is a trader-led lumber firm in downtown Vancouver. We're a small, focused team that values sharp execution and clear thinking. No corporate bloat, just people who know the business and move quickly. The opportunity Logistics: Cold call trucking carriers, source freight rates and coordinate shipments. You'll learn shipping lanes, pricing and supply chains. Trading: Call mills, wholesalers and distributors, find out what they need and win their business. Your own book: Build and run your own client book and portfolio, with earnings tied directly to your results. The challenge Build a book of business from nothing in a fast, competitive market. You'll be on the phone early, prospecting, negotiating and closing. If you like rejection turning into a yes, and you want your income to match your effort, this is how you break into the industry. What you'll do Cold call carriers and customers to build relationships and find new business Research the market, pricing and margins, and act on what you learn Negotiate and close transactions, and manage your own trading portfolio Support senior traders with research and daily trading activity What you'll need A sales-driven mindset, resilience and persistence Strong communication, listening and negotiation skills Enough analytical ability to work with pricing, margins and trends Proficiency in Excel and willingness to learn new systems Ability to be at your desk downtown by 6:00 AM, Monday to Friday Thank you to everyone who applies.
