Junior Buyer

We’re hiring a Junior Buyer / Purchasing Specialist for an established industrial distribution company in Northwest Houston. This is a great opportunity for an early-career or junior-level purchasing professional looking to grow within an industrial environment. The ideal candidate will have some prior exposure to purchasing, procurement, inventory, supply chain, or vendor coordination and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment supporting customer orders and company inventory needs. Key Responsibilities Create and manage purchase orders for products, materials, and services Request and compare supplier quotes, pricing, lead times, freight, and availability Communicate with vendors regarding order status and delivery schedules Monitor open purchase orders and help ensure on-time delivery Assist with inventory levels, shortages, and excess stock Resolve pricing, quantity, receiving, and invoice discrepancies Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier information in the ERP system Work closely with sales, warehouse, operations, quality, accounting, and management Assist with vendor sourcing and supplier negotiations when needed Requirements Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, inventory, or a related field preferred Experience in manufacturing, industrial distribution, fasteners, hardware, steel, piping, or industrial products is a plus Familiarity with purchase orders, RFQs, vendor quotations, lead times, and inventory ERP experience preferred ; Oracle or NetSuite experience is a strong plus Ability to understand part numbers, product descriptions, specifications, and customer requirements Strong Excel, Outlook, communication, organization, and follow-up skills Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Purchasing, or a related field preferred Experience working with material specifications, certifications, traceability, material grades, ASTM/SAE/ASME standards, finishes, or industrial fasteners is especially valuable.
