Junior Buyer

Position Summary The Junior Buyer supports procurement activities for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects by assisting with the sourcing, purchasing, and delivery of materials, equipment, and services. This role works closely with engineering, project management, suppliers, and logistics personnel to ensure project requirements are met on time, within budget, and in accordance with company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to develop a career in procurement and supply chain management within a project-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Procurement Support Assist in the preparation and issuance of Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to qualified suppliers. Obtain, review, and compare supplier quotations. Support the evaluation of supplier pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms. Generate and process purchase orders in the procurement system. Monitor purchase order status and ensure timely supplier acknowledgments. Supplier Management Develop and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors. Follow up with suppliers on order confirmations, production status, and shipments. Assist with supplier performance tracking and reporting. Maintain supplier records and procurement documentation. Project Support Coordinate with engineering and project teams to understand material and equipment requirements. Support procurement activities for capital projects, construction projects, and maintenance requirements. Track procurement milestones and assist with project reporting. Escalate potential delivery or supply issues to senior procurement personnel. Logistics & Expediting Monitor supplier deliveries and shipment schedules. Assist with expediting activities to ensure materials arrive according to project schedules. Coordinate with logistics and warehouse personnel regarding incoming materials. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate procurement records and files. Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and ethical sourcing standards. Support audits and procurement reporting requirements. Verify purchase requisitions contain complete and accurate information. Qualifications Education Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience 0-3 years of procurement, purchasing, supply chain, construction, manufacturing, or EPC-related experience. Internship or co-op experience in procurement is a plus. Knowledge & Skills Basic understanding of purchasing and supply chain principles. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Preferred Qualifications Exposure to EPC, industrial construction, energy, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects. Knowledge of commercial terms and procurement documentation. Understanding of supplier qualification and sourcing processes. Progress toward professional certifications such as CPSM, CPPB, or APICS/ASCM certifications.
