Position Overview

The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, selecting, and purchasing products that meet the company’s brand, financial, and customer objectives. The role requires strong analytical ability, vendor management skills, and an understanding of consumer trends and retail operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze sales trends, consumer insights, and competitive pricing to determine product selection and quantities.
  • Source new vendors and negotiate terms - pricing, discounts, credit, and delivery schedules.
  • Prepare purchase orders and coordinate with suppliers, logistics, and warehouse teams.
  • Collaborate with marketing and merchandising teams on promotions, seasonal assortments, and new launches.
  • Monitor product performance, sales margins, and inventory levels; recommend adjustments.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability and flexibility.
  • Attend trade shows and supplier visits to identify new products and trends.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and sustainability guidelines.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience as a Buyer or Senior Buyer in a retail or consumer-goods company.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and financial acumen.
  • Deep understanding of retail operations and category management.
  • Advanced Excel / reporting capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork mindset.
  • Bilingual (English / French) preferred; experience with ERP systems a plus.
  • Experience with large retailers such as Walmart, Costco, Target, or Dollarama is a significant advantage.
