About the Role: As an IV Technician/Purchaser at Quincy Medical Group, you will support safe and efficient medication preparation while helping ensure the pharmacy has the medications and supplies needed to care for our patients. This role combines hands-on pharmacy support with purchasing, inventory management, and medication supply coordination. You will work closely with pharmacists and other members of the care team to prepare IV medications, maintain inventory, coordinate purchasing, and help ensure medications and supplies are available when needed. This is a great fit for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing technical responsibilities with inventory and purchasing needs. Schedule & Work Environment Full-time. [Add schedule] This position works in a pharmacy and medication preparation environment and requires close attention to sterile technique, medication safety, inventory, and regulatory requirements. Primary Responsibilities Assist with the preparation and compounding of IV medications under pharmacist supervision and in accordance with established procedures and applicable requirements. Maintain appropriate sterile technique and follow medication preparation, infection prevention, and safety standards. Order medications, IV supplies, and other pharmacy inventory based on department needs. Monitor medication and supply inventory levels and help maintain appropriate stock while minimizing waste and shortages. Receive and verify medication and supply orders and appropriately store inventory upon arrival. Monitor expiration dates, product recalls, backorders, shortages, and other inventory concerns and communicate issues to the pharmacist or appropriate team member. Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and medication records. Assist with inventory counts, medication storage, organization, and rotation of stock. Communicate with vendors and internal team members regarding medication availability, purchasing needs, and supply concerns. Support cost-effective purchasing practices while ensuring necessary medications and supplies remain available for patient care. Maintain clean, organized, and compliant medication preparation and storage areas. Qualifications Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician license required. National Pharmacy Technician Certification required within two years of obtaining Illinois Pharmacy Technician licensure. Previous experience in a pharmacy or medical setting preferred. Previous IV preparation, sterile compounding, purchasing, or medication inventory experience preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication safety and accuracy. Strong organization and inventory management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with pharmacists, vendors, and other team members.
