Italian Buffet Service Coordinator

Job Summary Zia Maria Little Italy is seeking an experienced and organized Italian Buffet Manager to oversee buffet operations, coordinate food preparation and presentation, supervise service staff, and maintain high standards of food quality and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will manage buffet setup, monitor food availability, coordinate replenishment, control food waste, and ensure that guests receive an enjoyable dining experience. This role requires strong leadership, hospitality, inventory management, and knowledge of Italian cuisine. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily buffet operations and ensure smooth service throughout operating hours. Coordinate buffet menus featuring Italian dishes, appetizers, salads, pasta, pizzas, sides, and desserts. Work with chefs to plan menu selections, food quantities, and preparation schedules. Supervise buffet attendants, servers, and other assigned team members. Coordinate buffet setup, food presentation, labeling, and replenishment. Monitor food quality, freshness, temperature, and presentation standards. Ensure buffet stations remain clean, organized, and fully stocked. Track ingredient usage and coordinate inventory replenishment. Monitor portion sizes and implement procedures to minimize food waste. Assist with scheduling, training, and evaluating buffet service employees. Address guest questions, dietary requests, and service concerns professionally. Coordinate with kitchen management to maintain consistent food availability. Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements. Monitor buffet operating expenses and support cost-control initiatives. Prepare operational reports and communicate performance updates to management. Qualifications and Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality or restaurant management education is preferred. Previous experience in restaurant supervision, buffet operations, or food service management. Knowledge of Italian cuisine and buffet service standards. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures. Experience with inventory management, ordering, and food cost control. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to organize staff schedules and coordinate daily operations. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Preferred Skills Experience managing buffet operations in an Italian restaurant. Knowledge of pasta dishes, pizza varieties, antipasti, salads, and Italian desserts. Ability to coordinate buffet menus and seasonal food selections. Familiarity with portion control, food presentation, and waste reduction. Experience training and mentoring restaurant employees. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Ability to maintain consistent service standards during busy periods. Work Environment Fast-paced Italian restaurant and buffet service environment. Regular collaboration with chefs, servers, kitchen employees, and restaurant management. Frequent movement between kitchen, buffet stations, and dining areas. Exposure to hot food equipment, kitchen appliances, and food preparation areas. Requires extended periods of standing and active supervision.
