Inventory Specialist
GVTCSummary : The primary duties of an Inventory Control Technician To assist in the operation of the Maintenance & Operations warehouse including receiving, storing, issuing, and delivering equipment, tools, and supplies and maintaining inventory control. Perform inventory and asset management of GVTC premise equipment. Scope: Conduct all inventory duties and responsibilities under the guidance of the Inventory Manager. The job duties listed in this job description may not be inclusive of all requirements of this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Receive/unload freight from trucks and ensure accuracy in counting and checking for damage. · Receive warehouse stock and assist in stocking shelves according to established inventory systems and procedures. Provide service at the warehouse window for parts requests received from I&R Techs; Ontrac Techs; Outside Plant Contractors’ CO Engineers and CO Techs and fellow employees from other departments. This process includes scanning designated CPE parts to the Mapcom system for issue to the I&R and Ontrac Techs and then writing in all remaining parts requested using the Daily Issue Inventory form. · Perform inventory and asset management, preventative maintenance, and recycling of GVTC CPE · Assist with taking and maintaining inventory of materials, equipment, tools, and supplies. · Assist with maintaining inventory control including checking in, labeling, and restocking inventory. · Attend training classes and seminars as directed. · Correct unsafe conditions that may exist in the work area that could cause an accident · Know and practice the proper safety procedures in operating machinery and equipment as required for the job. · Assist with picking up and delivering materials, equipment, tools, and supplies. · Contact manager regarding errors and damaged goods · Maintain a quality standard of service. · Handle all procedures associated with the refurbishment and re-staging and redeployment of disconnected gateways and media players and the refurbishment and redeployment of dta’s; modems and routers. · Handle all procedures for sending out defective Gateways and Media Players to the authorized factory repair center for repair and when those devices are returned to us to also handle all procedures necessary to check in those devices to verify all have been received back so that invoicing for those repairs can then be matched to and approved for payment and then the devices can be prepared per standard processes for redeployment. · Perform all other functions as directed by the Inventory Manager Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. · General knowledge of warehouse inventory control systems to maintain the inventory database. · Ability to communicate and provide information to employees, management, and vendors. · Computer operating skills with introductory knowledge of Microsoft excel and Microsoft spreadsheets. · Skill in organizing and tracking materials and equipment · Understanding of Inventory Control principles and practices · Skill in working as a team member, providing positive customer service and providing clear and concise communication both written and oral. Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Continuing Education is required to complete at least one job related training course per year. Language Ability : Good oral and written communication skills. Reasoning Ability : Good judgment skills necessary to recognize and resolve issues.
