Inventory Manager / Packer
TempjacketAbout Tempjacket Tempjacket is a small Austin manufacturer. We build insulating jackets for industrial equipment, mostly standard sizes that ship from stock to manufacturers across the country. Orders come in, product ships, and inventory has to be right for any of that to work. Right now it isn't as right as it should be. That's why this job exists. Where we are We are in the Lakeway area near Lake Travis, not central Austin. Please check the drive from where you live before you apply. The job in one sentence Own our inventory from the shelf to the shipping box: make the numbers match the shelves, make sure every box ships with exactly what's on its parts list, and make the system better while you do it. What you'll do Receiving: check in raw materials and supplies, match them to purchase orders, and get them into the system the same day. Tracking: keep raw materials, work in progress and finished jackets accurate in Zoho Inventory. Run cycle counts and fix what doesn't match. QA and packing: check finished jackets before they ship, pack each order from its parts list, and confirm every box holds exactly the right parts and quantities. Nothing leaves with a wrong size or a short count. Reporting: tell the owner what's low, what's slow-moving, and what needs to be built or reordered, before it becomes a problem. Floor coordination: work side by side with the production team. Learn how they work, make the process easy for them, and make sure what they build gets counted. System building: we use Zoho Inventory and an in-house iPad app the floor uses to log inventory. Improve how it's set up, how it's used, and what it tells us. What success looks like after 90 days Physical counts match Zoho, and you can show it. The production team trusts you and comes to you first with inventory questions. There's a tracking process in place that works without you standing over it. How we work You report to the owner. He tells you what needs to happen and why, then gets out of the way. You'll have real authority to change how inventory is handled. In return, you own the result. If you need a manager to tell you what to do each morning, this won't be a fit. If you've been held back by too many approvals, you'll like it here. You must have 2+ years in inventory, warehouse, materials or production control Experience picking, packing or checking orders against a parts list or packing list Experience with inventory or ERP software (Zoho, NetSuite, QuickBooks, Fishbowl, SAP or similar) Strong spreadsheet skills (lookups, filters, pivot tables) Comfort with hands-on work. You'll pack boxes and be on the floor daily, not behind a desk all day.
