Job Title: Inventory Management Support D Job Code: 45895 Job Location : Herndon, VA Job Schedule: ALT 9/80 Job Description: Responsible for all inventory and logistics activities supporting the Mission Networks Sector, as well as ownership of the stockroom and transportation functions supporting multiple sectors at the location. This role proactively manages receiving, shipping, order process and expediting when required, and equipment movement to and from field technicians in support of FTI program operations. Responsible for monitoring spare parts inventory, coordinating supplier returns through RMAs, assisting with audit activities, and resolving routine discrepancies while acting as the main point of contact for local customers and program managers. This position requires independent decision‑making to ensure proper handling, storage, and distribution of materials, along with determining shipment routing within established guidelines to maintain efficient, cost‑effective support for Mission Networks and FAA program needs. Essential Functions: Lead daily receiving, shipping, storage, and distribution activities at the Herndon site with minimal supervision. Validate incoming materials, process MRP receipts, and maintain accurate inventory records. Prepare and coordinate outbound shipments, including carrier scheduling, AWB creation, and SHIP/PITS processing. Package materials in compliance with ASTM Best Practices, MIL‑STD 2073, and hazardous materials requirements. Manage inventory levels, spare parts, material issues, transfers, and scheduled releases to support field technicians. Resolve routine material discrepancies, reject nonconforming items, and manage RMAs. Serve as the on‑site point of contact for customers, program managers, and field services. Maintain compliance with safety, hazardous chemical handling, and EHS procedures. Support audits, generate material status reports, and ensure database accuracy across MRP and Cognos systems. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and take initiative to improve processes and overall site performance. Must be able to obtain an FAA Public Trust to support this role. Qualifications: Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Preferred Additional Skills: Experience generating Cognos or similar material management reports to support planning, audits, and procurement needs. Ability to manage quarterly spare‑parts audits and verify data accuracy across multiple inventory systems. Proficiency using platforms (e.g., PeopleSoft) to process shipments, receipts, RMAs, and material releases. Strong communication skills for coordinating effectively with Field Services, Engineering, Program Management, Procurement, and other cross‑functional teams. Demonstrated capability to lead or participate in process‑improvement initiatives, team projects, and site‑level tasks with minimal oversight.
