Job Summary
The Inventory Control Supervisor supervises warehouse and inventory operations, including the receipt, storage, processing, ordering, replenishment, and distribution of supplies, materials, and equipment. The role ensures accurate inventory records, appropriate stock levels, timely delivery, and compliance with established procurement and inventory procedures.
The position provides guidance to warehouse staff, maintains inventory and material cost records, prepares inventory reports, monitors supply usage, and recommends improvements to warehouse procedures and productivity. The supervisor also supports purchasing activities by identifying approved vendors, ordering materials, maintaining purchasing documentation, and ensuring compliance with procurement and purchasing policies.
The role may assume responsibility for warehouse operations in the supervisor's absence and requires knowledge of inventory control, warehousing methods, procurement procedures, stock management, and material distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide guidance for daily warehouse and inventory activities.
- Oversee the receipt, storage, processing, and distribution of supplies and equipment.
- Provide guidance to warehouse staff regarding daily inventory and delivery operations.
- Process receiving reports and maintain material cost records.
- Prepare inventory reports and recommend delivery and replenishment schedules.
- Maintain accurate inventory control records and monitor stock levels.
- Estimate projected inventory requirements and recommend appropriate stock levels.
- Monitor warehouse stock, costs, storage, and distribution.
- Conduct periodic physical inventory counts and verify inventory records for accuracy.
- Monitor department usage of supplies and identify changing inventory requirements.
- Recommend improvements and updates to warehouse and inventory policies and procedures.
- Provide technical guidance to staff regarding procurement and inventory procedures.
- Identify appropriate vendors and purchasing sources for required materials.
- Order materials and stock from approved vendors and contracts.
- Maintain purchasing documentation and follow applicable purchasing card procedures.
- Support efforts to improve warehouse productivity and timely delivery of products.
- Assume responsibility for warehouse operations when the supervisor is absent.
Required Qualifications
- Equivalent combination of two years of education and experience after completion of high school.
- Education and experience should be in stock control, warehousing, merchandise management, inventory control, or a related field.
- Experience with inventory control, warehouse operations, or merchandise management is preferred.
- Knowledge of warehouse methods, procedures, equipment, and inventory processes.
- Knowledge of receiving, storing, ordering, shipping, and distributing merchandise and supplies.
- Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and prepare inventory reports.
- Ability to monitor stock levels and determine inventory and replenishment requirements.
- Ability to interpret and follow procurement policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ability to identify appropriate vendors and purchasing sources.
- Ability to supervise, guide, and coordinate warehouse staff.
- Ability to perform physical activities associated with warehouse operations, including frequent reaching, bending, lifting, and handling materials.
- Valid driver's license.
