VSP TechnologiesInventory Control Specialist The Inventory Control Specialist is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of inventory, while optimizing inventory to meet working capital targets across assigned warehouses. This position works both in the system and on the warehouse floor, investigating discrepancies, resolving issues, and supporting continuous improvement in inventory processes. The role plays a key part in maintaining alignment between physical inventory and system records while partnering closely with Operations, Procurement, Logistics, and other cross-functional teams. Essential Functions Support the daily cycle count process, including count sheet preparation, recounts, and adjustments Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies and perform root cause analysis Maintain accurate system records to support inventory integrity Participate in physical inventory Support proper organization of inventory by performing bin audits, inventory analysis, and labeling verification Provide guidance and support to Operations to reinforce inventory processes and best practices Run MRP, review recommendations, and make any necessary adjustments to balance service levels with working capital targets prior to sending to Purchasing to order Process inventory transactions in the ERP system, including: Inventory adjustments Bin transfers and adjustments Inter-warehouse inventory transfers Set up new part numbers for inventoried items and update item descriptions, min/max levels, and lead times Maintain routings (BOMs) and related inventory data Run and review inventory reports (cycle count variances, stock-outs, discrepancies, staging/ship bins) Identify trends or issues affecting inventory accuracy Track and report on excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory and coordinate disposition activities Partner with Procurement on inventory parameters (lead times, MRP inputs) Process customer returns for stocked items Assist with vendor returns and non-conforming material Maintain a favorable working relationship with all employees to foster a collaborative and productive work environment Project a favorable image of the company to promote, foster, and enhance public recognition of the company and its products and services.
