Steel Tech Building SystemsBrief Description We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Inventory Control Manager to oversee all aspects of materials flow—from purchasing and receiving to inventory management and compliance. This critical role ensures production continuity, cost efficiency, vendor performance, and material quality. You will collaborate with Purchasing, Receiving, Sales, Planning, and Production teams to keep operations running smoothly and on schedule. Key Responsibilities Own and manage minimum inventory levels for all materials and consumables; recommend proactive adjustments based on demand. Monitor, track, and evaluate consumables usage and durability to inform purchasing decisions. Reconcile weekly counts and maintain accuracy across inventory systems; report variances. Allocate materials using FIFO principles, considering availability, age, and lead times to reduce waste. Lead quarterly physical inventory counts; maintain audit-ready documentation. Maintain daily internal inventory updates to ensure visibility and availability for production needs. Receiving & Materials Inspection Unload deliveries and inspect materials against PO, BOL, and MTR for 100% compliance. Create and label Material Identification (MID) tags; record MTRs in IAS database and internal filing system. Reject non-compliant materials and manage the full RMA (Return Material Authorization) process. File all documents daily and ensure accurate categorization for accounting and audit compliance. Close compliant POs and resolve non-conforming ones in coordination with Receiving and Purchasing. Purchasing & Vendor Management Source all materials (raw, consumables, accessories, and buyouts) using an approved vendor list. Generate RFQs, negotiate within budget, and make purchasing decisions based on quality, cost, and delivery lead times. Create, monitor, and reconcile purchase orders; follow up on delivery status and resolve discrepancies. Communicate daily with vendors and internal stakeholders to align on delivery schedules, changes, and material needs. Review open and past-due purchase orders regularly; escalate issues before they affect production. Partner with vendors to ensure IAS compliance, share forecasts, and maintain preferred customer status. Required Knowledge, Skills, & Experience Systems & Tools: Google Sheets, Microsoft Office, inventory spreadsheets, MBS files, IAS Access, RFQs Material Knowledge: Structural steel, consumables, welding products, hazardous materials Measurement & Safety: Tape measure, caliper, micrometer, forklift operation & safety Skills: Strong written and verbal communication Inventory control, procurement, and vendor negotiation Time management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution Freight logistics, documentation management, and compliance awareness Competencies & Expectations Ownership: Full accountability for inventory accuracy, purchasing performance, and material availability. Autonomy: Authority to make purchasing decisions within budget and ensure quality compliance. Communication: Clear, consistent updates with internal stakeholders and external vendors. Urgency & Accuracy: Respond promptly to discrepancies and shortages; update systems in real-time. Performance Targets: 100% PO compliance and inventory accuracy Zero delays due to material shortages or non-conformance On-time, within-budget purchasing and vendor alignment Strong vendor relationships that support delivery and quality goals Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of experience in inventory, materials, or procurement roles Experience in manufacturing or structural steel environments Familiarity with IAS material compliance and physical inventory audits Why Join Us?
