Inventory Control Lead Position
Custom Controls of ArizonaThe Inventory Control Lead is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, optimizing inventory processes, and ensuring the integrity of all stock and non-stock materials throughout the warehouse. This role serves as the central point of accountability for inventory management by conducting audits, investigating discrepancies, analyzing inventory trends, and implementing process improvements that support operational efficiency. The Inventory Control Lead works closely with Receiving, Picking, Shipping, Purchasing, and Operations teams to ensure inventory is accurately tracked, strategically located, and available when needed. This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills, technology proficiency, and a continuous improvement mindset. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesInventory Accuracy & Control Maintain accurate inventory quantities and locations across all warehouse operations. Perform cycle counts, physical inventories, and routine audits to ensure inventory integrity. Investigate inventory discrepancies and conduct root cause analysis to identify why counts are off and implement corrective actions. Monitor inventory transactions and ensure proper inventory movement within the inventory management system. Maintain bin and location integrity by assigning primary storage locations, consolidating inventory, retiring obsolete locations, and verifying labeling accuracy. Serve as the subject matter expert for inventory accuracy and inventory control processes. Warehouse Operations Support Partner closely with Receiving, Picking, Shipping, and Purchasing teams to ensure inventory movements are accurately documented and executed. Monitor inventory flow from receipt through fulfillment to prevent stock errors and delays. Assist with inventory-related issues affecting customer orders, shipments, and warehouse productivity. Support warehouse organization initiatives to improve product accessibility, storage utilization, and operational efficiency. Process Improvement & Analysis Continuously identify opportunities to improve inventory management processes, warehouse organization, and inventory accuracy. Analyze inventory trends, transaction history, and variance reports to identify recurring issues. Develop and implement corrective actions to reduce inventory discrepancies and improve operational performance. Utilize inventory management software and reporting tools to track key performance indicators and support data-driven decision making. Recommend process improvements that support lean inventory practices and efficient warehouse operations. Reporting & Communication Prepare and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly inventory accuracy reports. Report inventory variances, root cause findings, and corrective action plans to leadership. Maintain clear communication with cross-functional departments regarding inventory issues, shortages, and process improvements. Assist in developing and updating inventory procedures, work instructions, and best practices. Systems & Compliance Maintain accurate inventory records within Fishbowl and other company inventory management systems. Ensure compliance with company inventory procedures, warehouse policies, and safety standards. Support inventory-related training for warehouse personnel when needed. Promote safe material handling practices and maintain an organized warehouse environment. QualificationsRequired Minimum 3 years of inventory control, inventory management, or warehouse operations experience. Strong understanding of inventory control principles, cycle counting, auditing, and reconciliation processes. Experience with inventory management software, ERP systems, or warehouse management systems (WMS). Advanced attention to detail with the ability to identify trends, discrepancies, and root causes.
