Inventory Control Associate – Forklift Operator Department: Warehouse Operations Reports To: Inventory Control Manager Position Type: Full-Time Position Summary The Inventory Control Associate – Forklift Operator is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory throughout the warehouse while operating a forklift for the majority of the workday. This position performs inventory movements, cycle counts, replenishments, putaway, location audits, inventory research, and product relocations. The ideal candidate is an experienced forklift operator who is comfortable spending most of the shift operating powered industrial equipment while also maintaining a high level of inventory accuracy. Key Responsibilities Operate a sit-down forklift, reach truck, and/or other powered industrial equipment throughout the workday to move, locate, count, and organize inventory. Perform daily cycle counts and physical inventory counts. Verify inventory quantities and warehouse locations against the Warehouse Management System (WMS). Move pallets between receiving, storage, picking, replenishment, staging, and shipping locations. Perform pallet putaway and product replenishment. Research inventory discrepancies and identify potential causes of shortages, overages, or incorrect locations. Correct inventory locations and quantities in accordance with company procedures. Perform location audits to identify misplaced, unidentified, or incorrectly stored inventory. Consolidate and relocate inventory to improve warehouse space utilization. Verify SKU, lot, quantity, pallet ID, and location information before completing inventory movements. Use RF scanners and warehouse systems to record inventory transactions accurately. Assist with receiving discrepancies, damaged inventory, returns, and inventory holds. Identify damaged products and report inventory or quality issues to management. Maintain accurate pallet and location labeling. Support periodic physical inventories and customer inventory audits. Maintain clean and organized rack, bulk-storage, and staging areas. Follow all OSHA, forklift, warehouse, and company safety procedures. Perform daily forklift inspections and immediately report equipment or safety concerns. Assist warehouse operations with additional material-handling duties when required. Forklift Requirements This is a forklift-intensive position . Employees should expect to operate a forklift or reach truck for a significant portion of each shift. Candidates must be comfortable: Operating powered industrial equipment for extended periods. Working in narrow warehouse aisles and high-rack storage environments. Retrieving and placing full pallets at elevated rack locations. Frequently mounting and dismounting equipment to inspect and count inventory. Safely maneuvering around pedestrians, racks, docks, staging areas, and other equipment. Qualifications Previous warehouse or distribution center experience required. Minimum 1 year of forklift experience preferred. Reach truck and/or high-reach forklift experience strongly preferred. Previous inventory control, cycle counting, receiving, or warehouse inventory experience preferred. Experience using RF scanners required or strongly preferred. Experience with a Warehouse Management System (WMS) preferred. Ability to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies. Strong attention to detail and basic math skills. Ability to work independently and complete assigned inventory tasks accurately. Ability to read SKU numbers, location codes, pallet labels, and inventory documentation. Forklift certification preferred; company certification may be required upon hire. Physical Requirements Ability to operate powered industrial equipment for extended periods. Ability to repeatedly get on and off a forklift throughout the shift. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
