International Trade and Customs Compliance Specialist

Steel) for international trade and customs compliance specialist (Specialist) seeking new challenges and professional development in a dynamic interdisciplinary work environment. Specialist will be responsible for supporting U. S. Steel on international trade law and policy issues, matters, and risks—with a particular focus on U. S. Steel’s customs compliance and tariff-related matters. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Report directly to the Chief Trade Officer (CTO) Assist CTO and Senior Corporate Counsel for International Trade and Customs Compliance in leading U. S. Steel’s trade action and customs compliance in the United States, Canada, and Mexico: o Customs compliance (see below) o Antidumping and countervailing duties, including trade data and questionnaire responses o Section 232 national security actions and tariffs o Section 301 investigations, reviews, and tariffs o U.S. trade agreement negotiations, compliance, and implementation o U.S. trade policy, enforcement, education, advocacy, communication and counsel Support and lead cross-functional internal clients (logistics, procurement, raw materials, sales, et al ) on customs compliance processes, requirements, documents and certifications, recordkeeping, screening, supply chain mapping, data, analysis, customs audits, and communication with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and outside brokers and freight forwarders: o Classification, valuation, country of origin, special tariffs o Screening and supply chain mapping for Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) and U.S. forced labor law compliance o Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) Trade Compliance requirements, assessments, training, and reporting o U.S., Canadian, Mexican, and U.S. trade agreement customs compliance, including certifications, rules of origin, labor value content, melt and pour requirements, retaliatory surtax, remission, drawback, etc. , and working with local counsel Update and maintain import, tariff, and case trackers Prepare internal and external documents (memos, presentations, public comments, confidential white papers) on trade and customs matters and issues Stay current with developments and requirements for customs compliance and assist internal clients implement policies and procedures in response thereto EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Required: Bachelor’s degree in international business, supply chain management, accounting, business administration, economics or a related field A minimum of 5 years of experience in the administration of U.S. customs laws and regulations In-depth knowledge of U.S. customs laws, regulations, and CBP requirements Strong skills in cross-functional collaboration and coordination: demonstrated ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, handle multiple conflicting priorities while managing a substantial workload and client expectations Data-fluent: strong technical data analysis skills (MS Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Oracle, CBP’s Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, and/or steel trade databases) Ability to think strategically, pay close attention to detail, and creatively solve problems. Experience in researching, organizing, and writing concise communications and presentations Excellent verbal and written communication skills Preferred: U.S. Custom’s Broker License (LCB), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Global Trade Management (GTM) Software Training, and/or C-TPAT training Customs’ broker, law firm, in-house, or U.S. federal government experience, particularly related to CBP, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and/or the U.S. International Trade Commission.
