Main Interfaces

 

Reports to Senior Warehouse & Logistics Manager.  Interacts continuously with broader Canada and EMEAA Supply Chain teams. Regular interactions with regional commercial teams & functions (Sales, Finance, Marketing). Ongoing engagement with external warehouse & logistics partners and suppliers (often in coordination with EMEAA and AEI).  Strong relationship and ongoing interaction with AEI procurement team.

 

Key Purpose Statement

The International Freight Manager supports the Senior Warehousing & Logistics Manager in the delivery of the annual Budget and the optimization of Warehousing & Logistics across Canada, with specific focus on service and cost management of our international logistics.  This role is key in delivering the required processes to ensure the effective management of our distribution activities on a national scale in support of the overall Asahi Canada growth agenda.

 

Key Responsibilities

Reporting & Analysis

  • Build and prepare performance management reports and KPI’s to ensure weekly / monthly performance is understood
  • Maintain monthly reports on logistics costs drivers and variance to budget, with associated action plans with a focus on reducing Primary freight cost
  • Provide input into our quarterly budget review for Primary freight cost
  • Support commercial and finance teams with all international transport related input for their value chain analyses

Day to Day Management

  • Responsible for all elements of International Logistics, and communication with CS team on any issues, delays etc..
  • Responsible for management inbound documentation including PO’s and customs clearance
  • Hold brewery export team and freight forwarder partners accountable by tracking and reporting KPI and presenting them in regular meetings
  • Own the relationship with the freight forwarders
  • Support misc. activities such as container load management, cross docking, receiving/customs clearances and Freight forwarders invoice escalation
  • Monitoring and approving extra charges invoices and payment process for international carriers
  • Manage activities related to the export returnable containers (Empty kegs) process, e.g. reconciliation of container volume shipping coordination, documents tracking and value in customer hands
  • Other supply chain tasks, as required
  • Partner with EMEAA SC team & Procurement on management of master data for transport lanes, 3PL’s and other services

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for increased efficiency, automate, reduced complexity and cost mitigation.
  • Work with Commercial, Finance & Customer Services to deliver a number of process improvements (e.g. optimised MOQ, reduced case pick)
  • Evaluate Business Process enhancement and drive continuous improvements of systems and processes.
  • Investigating and resolving issues regarding transport jointly with the Control Tower team or Procurement.

 Qualification requirement

  • Ability to plan, prioritize and execute against tight timelines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers.
  • Knowledge of international logistics. (Import, Export, Incoterm etc…)
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business or another relevant field.
  • 3 years experience in a supply chain coordination role.
  • Proficient with database, spreadsheet, and word processing computer skills within a Microsoft environment.
  • Experience in the Alcohol industry is a plus
  • Experience in procurement is a plus
  • Project management or six sigma certification is a plus
