Intermodal Dispatcher

Experienced Intermodal Dispatcher Schedule: Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Time In: 11:00am Time Out: 8:00pm (Must have flexibility) Summary of Position: The person handling this position is responsible for scheduling the pickup and delivery of containers from or to harbor ports/rail facilities. Enter data into our system (PortProTechnologies) for planning and providing immediate access to the status of the work being performed. Coordinate and Schedule drivers to meet customers pick up and delivery needs. Description of Main Duties: Plan and Distribute work to drivers in a way to minimize turnover Responsible for managing, coaching and training drivers Manage and coordinate loads cost effectively minimizing demurrage and per diem charges Monitor the status of shipments and resolve customer service issues Plan and Confirm work orders to all drivers on a daily basis Ensure proactive and timely communication with departments and external customers Input and confirm our system is updated with accurate order, container, chassis, customer, note information Responsible for making corrective action and disciplinary decisions up to written warning level to drivers. Hazardous Goods as well as Security Training preferred but not required Ability to work independently with limited supervision and in a team environment Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is a largely sedentary role; however individuals may need to sit more than 4 hours at a time or stand as needed. This position may require walking primarily on a level surface for periods of time as well as reaching above shoulder heights or below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques are required. This position may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds for files and computer printouts.
