Intermodal Dispatcher

Job Title: Intermodal Dispatcher Location: Nashville, TN Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: VP of Operations Position Overview: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Intermodal Dispatcher to join our transportation team. This role is responsible for coordinating the movement of containers between rail yards, depots, and customer locations, ensuring timely deliveries and pick-ups while maintaining compliance with all regulations and company standards. Key Responsibilities: Schedule, assign, and dispatch company drivers and owner-operators for import and export intermodal container moves. Communicate daily with drivers, internal customer service teams, steamship lines, rail yards, chassis providers, container depots, and customers to confirm availability, meet delivery requirements, and ensure on-time accuracy. Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve service or delivery issues. Update load status in dispatch and transportation management systems (TMS) in real time. Manage driver schedules and ensure efficient use of equipment and time. Coordinate with customer service, billing, and safety departments as needed. Upload documents, review, and validate BOLs, container numbers, and other documentation for accuracy. Troubleshoot delays related to equipment, drivers, rail availability, or customer requests. Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, HOS rules, and company safety policies. Qualifications: Minimum 1 year of dispatch experience in intermodal or drayage operations preferred. Strong understanding of intermodal logistics, rail terminals, and port operations. Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other transportation software. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm, with rotating weekend on-call duty.
