Intermodal Dispatcher

Job Overview As an Intermodal Dispatcher, you’ll coordinate freight movements across road and intermodal networks, keeping drivers, customers, and internal teams informed as plans change. You’ll use transportation management systems and dispatch tools to track loads, manage schedules, and support reliable service. Your impact: Accurate dispatching and timely updates help customers receive freight as planned and help drivers stay coordinated. Duties Dispatch and track vehicles using GPS, vehicle dispatch software, and transportation management systems; work with Oracle Transportation Management, SyteLine, or AS400 where applicable. Coordinate road transportation operations, transportation planning, shipping and receiving, and fleet management activities. Manage phone calls on multi-line systems, respond to customer service needs, and maintain clear internal communication with drivers, carriers, and operations teams. Enter and update shipment, route, and status information; use Microsoft Office and data analysis to identify delays and support logistics decisions. Follow Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company procedures while coordinating freight, supply chain, and third-party logistics (3PL) activity. Requirements Strong communication, phone communication, phone etiquette, organizational, and typing skills; able to manage multiple calls and priorities. Experience or knowledge in dispatching, transportation management, logistics, freight, and road transportation operations. Familiarity with transportation management systems, vehicle dispatch software, GPS, and Microsoft Office; Oracle Transportation Management, SyteLine, or AS400 experience is preferred. Knowledge of DOT regulations, shipping and receiving, fleet management, and 3PL operations is preferred. GIS (geographic information systems) familiarity, transportation planning, supply chain knowledge, customer service experience, and analysis skills are valued.
