Job Title: Intermodal Dispatche (Chicago Rail Drayage) Company: Zein Trucking Inc. Location: Tinley Park, IL (on-site) Job Type: Full-time Pay: based on experience Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM; some weekend availability as needed About Us Zein Trucking is an intermodal drayage carrier based in Tinley Park, IL. We move containers between Chicago-area rail ramps and customers across the region, working with owner-operators and company drivers. Business is growing, and we need an experienced, all-around dispatcher who can take ownership of the board, the inbox, and the billing from day one. The Role You'll run dispatch for a fleet of about 8 trucks and serve as the main point of contact for brokers and customers: quoting rates, answering emails, tracking shipments, and handling billing for rail yard moves. All loads are managed in PortPro , our dispatching software. What You'll Do Dispatch Plan and dispatch daily drayage moves for about 8 trucks, handling 20' and 40' containers to and from Chicago-area rail yards Build efficient daily plans that maximize loaded miles and reduce empty runs Track container availability, last free days, holds, and appointments across multiple ramps Coordinate pickups, deliveries, empty returns, and street turns to minimize demurrage, per diem, and dry runs Manage chassis: our own leased units plus pool chassis Communicate clearly with drivers and owner-operators throughout the day Handle problems in real time: rail delays, outgates, terminal issues, and equipment problems Tracking & Customer Communication Track shipments from rail availability through delivery and empty return Answer customer and broker emails promptly and professionally Provide proactive status updates on pickups, deliveries, and delays Quoting Respond to rate requests with accurate drayage quotes, including fuel surcharge and applicable accessorials Follow up on quotes to turn them into booked loads Billing Handle billing for rail yard moves in PortPro, making sure each load is complete and invoiced accurately Capture and bill accessorials such as detention, storage, chassis, prepull, and waiting time Track rail and terminal charges, including demurrage and per diem, and make sure they're billed or disputed correctly Keep load records, proof of delivery, and supporting documents organized for billing What We're Looking For Required: [2+] years of intermodal or drayage dispatch experience in the Chicago market Experience running a board of roughly 8 trucks or more on your own Hands-on experience with 20' and 40' containers, including weights, equipment matching, and chassis types Strong working knowledge of Chicago rail yards and their procedures, such as BNSF, UP, CSX, NS, CN, and CPKC terminals Experience with rail and terminal portals for availability, holds, and gate activity Experience quoting drayage rates and handling drayage billing and accessorials Understanding of last free day, demurrage, per diem, and accessorial charges PortPro experience is a strong plus. Experience with another drayage TMS is acceptable. Strong written communication; able to manage a busy inbox without letting anything slip Calm under pressure, organized, and direct with drivers Comfortable with email, spreadsheets, and web portals How to Apply Apply through Indeed with your resume.
