Overview Join our dynamic logistics team as an Intermodal Dispatch Specialist with proven experience in coordinating and managing intermodal transportation operations. In this vital role, you will oversee the seamless movement of freight across multiple transportation modes, including rail and truck, ensuring timely deliveries and optimal fleet utilization. Your expertise in transportation planning, dispatching, and communication will drive efficiency and customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment. Duties Coordinate and dispatch intermodal freight shipments using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management. Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, warehouse teams, and clients via multi-line phone systems and internal communication channels to facilitate smooth operations. Monitor GPS and GIS tools to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure compliance with DOT regulations. Manage shipping and receiving schedules, ensuring accurate data entry and documentation for all freight movements. Handle phone call management with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette while providing exceptional customer service. Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements within road transportation operations and logistics workflows. Ensure adherence to safety standards, DOT regulations, and internal policies related to fleet management and freight handling. Requirements Proven experience in intermodal dispatching within a logistics or transportation environment. Strong knowledge of GIS, GPS tracking systems, transportation planning, and road transportation operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) along with experience using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or vehicle dispatch software. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail. Effective communication skills for internal coordination and external customer interactions via phone calls and written correspondence. Familiarity with shipping & receiving processes, fleet management practices, and freight documentation procedures. Ability to analyze operational data for continuous improvement initiatives. Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations related to vehicle dispatching and freight safety standards.
