Interior Design Assistant Hier Design is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Interior Design Assistant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong understanding of interior design, architectural materials, and construction documentation, while also being comfortable working directly with clients, vendors, contractors, and active job sites. We’re looking for someone who is organized, proactive, creative, and excited to be involved in projects from concept through installation. Required Skills & Experience Proficient in AutoCAD Knowledge of architectural and interior finish materials Ability to create and assist with lighting and electrical plans Familiarity with FF&E schedules and specifications Comfortable taking accurate on-site field measurements Ability to read and understand architectural drawings and plans Strong organizational and communication skills Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and project details simultaneously Proficient with Google Slides, Google Drive, and general office software Responsibilities Conduct project and job-site check-ins Take and document site measurements Assist with client meetings, presentations, and project preparation Create and update Google Slides design presentations Source furniture, lighting, plumbing fixtures, finishes, fabrics, tile, stone, hardware, and other materials Assist with preparing and maintaining FF&E schedules Track furniture, material, and custom-order status Follow up with vendors regarding pricing, lead times, samples, and deliveries Help coordinate between the design team, vendors, contractors, fabricators, and installers Assist with lighting, electrical, finish, and furniture plans Maintain organized project files, specifications, samples, and finish selections Request and organize material samples for client presentations Assist with installation days and final project styling when needed Help identify potential job-site issues and communicate them to the design team Keep project information, selections, specifications, and revisions accurately documented Bonus Skills Experience creating shop drawings or detailed drawings for custom furniture and millwork Knowledge of cabinetry and custom fabrication Experience with SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, or other design/rendering software Experience working directly with contractors and trades Knowledge of purchasing, procurement, and order tracking Familiarity with high-end residential design projects The Ideal Candidate You have a strong eye for design but understand that great interiors also require precision, organization, and follow-through. You’re comfortable going from selecting a beautiful material in the studio to measuring a wall on-site, reviewing an electrical plan, following up on a delayed furniture order, and helping prepare a polished client presentation. We’re looking for someone who wants to grow with our studio, take ownership of their work, and become an integral part of the Hier Design team. Pay: From $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 10.0 – 20.0 per week Work Location: In person
