Performs responsible technical work including the analysis, design and implementation of automated traffic management systems. May be responsible for administering information resources and telecommunication hardware/software located within an Intelligent Transportation Operations Center. Work requires contact with governmental and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor. Essential Duties: The Essential Duties for an ITS Analyst I: Assists programmers with system problems related to flow charts, diagrams and project design. Assists with planning and scheduling the installation and testing of hardware/software and troubleshooting computer/telecommunication related problems. Coordinates project schedule for the installation, implementation and upgrade of systems. Coordinates the development, implementation and maintenance of information systems, local area networks (LAN) and information security administration. Develops ITS which includes writing design documentation and methods, preparing work diagrams and data flow charts, evaluating systems hardware and hardware, analyzing user requirements, testing software and performing field tests.
