Installation Manager - Commercial Signs & Fleet Graphics
SignaramaSignarama Novi & Flint (STNJ LLC) · Fleet Graphics Detroit Location: Wixom, MI (new facility), with regular time in Flint and on job sites across Southeast and Mid-Michigan Pay: $75,000–$85,000 base salary plus up to $25,000 in annual bonus potential Schedule: Full-time, mostly weekday daytime, occasional late or weekend work Build the installer-development program you wish existed when you entered the trade. Electricians, plumbers and HVAC techs have a clear path from apprentice to master. Sign installers usually don’t. We’re changing that. On January 1, 2027 we launch a formal career program for our installers, with defined levels, skills assessments twice a year, and two master tracks (Graphics & Wrap, and Electrical & Structural). Experts on those tracks can earn top pay without having to become managers. We’re looking for the leader who will help build that program and then run it. Your standards become our standards. A note from the owner I’m Beth Powers. I own Signarama Novi and Signarama Flint, and we’re growing Fleet Graphics Detroit out of our new Wixom facility. We’ll pass $4 million in revenue this year, and our goal is to double over the next five years. Our installs are where customers see our work, so that’s where our reputation is won or lost. I need someone who takes action, takes responsibility and keeps a positive attitude. Install work isn’t the hardest job in the world, but it is incredibly important that it’s done right and that we live our values while we do it. What you’ll own Quality first. Your top priority in year one is reducing rework and callbacks. That means pre-install job reviews, field inspections, photo sign-off, and fixing problems where they start. Your crew. Lead 5–8 in-house installers and our subcontractors in Wixom and Flint. You’ll have authority to hire, coach, discipline and, when necessary, let people go, with HR support. The career program. Help finalize our installer levels, run the electrical and structural skills assessments, and develop the next generation of installers. The schedule. One install calendar across both stores, coordinated with project managers, production and permitting. Safety and equipment. Bucket truck, lifts, vehicles and tools are ready, and safe practices are followed on every job. Labor performance. Compare actual install hours to estimates so our pricing reflects reality. This is a working-manager role. You’ll spend about 30–40% of your time in the field, where your credibility matters most. Who we’re looking for You don’t have to come from the sign industry. If you’ve led crews and processes at a commercial electrical, HVAC, plumbing or carpentry company and you’re strong with electrical work, we want to talk. We’ll teach you signs. Must have 5+ years of commercial field installation experience, in sign installation or a related trade such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing or carpentry 2+ years leading crews, people and field processes (a formal manager title isn’t required) Hands-on electrical experience: wiring, connecting and troubleshooting illuminated signs or other line-voltage equipment. Vinyl or wrap experience alone isn’t enough for this role. Structural installation experience: anchoring, mounting and working safely at height Safe operation of bucket trucks and aerial lifts A valid Michigan driver’s license and a record that our insurance will cover Strong plus Michigan Sign Specialist license, or the ability to earn one (we’ll support you) Vehicle wrap or fleet experience, or 3M, Avery Dennison or similar certification Commercial electrical sign experience, welding, or multi-site rollout experience Comfort with job-management software (we use Zoho and CoreBridge) Our core values Operational Excellence: the best and right way, every time.
