Description

Clean Harbors is seeking an InSite Operations Manager in the Paulsboro, New Jersey area. This position is responsible to oversee all Company activities and manage the InSite staff on the customer site.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner
  • Oversee day-to-day compliance of the refinery’s waste program, coordinating all movements of waste internally and shipments to outside disposal/recycling facilities
  • Lead and manage onsite staff supporting the customer’s air, water, and/or hazardous waste programs, including Health and Safety oversight (the 90-day pad coordinator and roll-off truck drivers report into this function)
  • Manage facility-wide “cradle to grave” waste generation, storage, profiling, and disposal; push and track waste profiles through disposal facilities to obtain quick turnaround and monitor approvals received
  • Ensure proper packaging of waste to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance, including handling on-site movements/disposal of asbestos waste and tracking applicable time limits
  • Schedule trucks for shipments and manage logistics to support shipping needs; maintain communication between customers, drivers, customer service, and the central logistics team
  • Arrange outlets for nonhazardous materials; identify potential outlets and communicate the most cost-effective option to the Company Waste Engineer
  • Handle manifesting for nonhazardous shipments
  • Manage container and roll-off operations end-to-end: participate in ordering procedures for containers, inspect containers entering the site, arrange placement at job sites, coordinate on-site roll-off movements, field radio calls for container movements, track container movements and associated PO’s, and perform minor tarp repairs as needed
  • Manage all trash and non-hazardous debris from units (front end loader, rear end loader, roll-offs, Teamster containers, etc.)
  • Manage refinery recycling program (concrete, wood, asphalt, offices/buildings, e-waste) and arrange transportation/disposal of contaminated soil and other special waste streams; inspect each load for verification
  • Manage roll-off drivers’ daily activities, including monitoring routine efficiency via GPS
  • Maintain truck and roll-off equipment in good working order and ensure adequate equipment levels for routine service needs and ongoing projects
  • Maintain service level for WWTP biosolids movements (weekdays and weekends)
  • Oversee used oil pickups by third-party vacuum truck and arrange pickup at non-routine sites as well as designated weekly routes
  • Manage aspects of the empty drum program (purchasing, sorting, cleaning, crushing)
  • Conduct weekly container inspections of all waste containers (hazardous and nonhazardous) and maintain weekly inventory
  • Conduct facility-wide compliance audits and inspections of staging, accumulating, and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance
  • Assist customers with compiling data necessary for completing the Generator’s Annual Report and other required reporting functions
  • Prepare monthly reports on waste generation and respective disposal costs; provide monthly tracking of wastes by type and recycled materials by stream
  • QA/QC all invoices prior to submittal to Environmental for approval and provide explanations for month-to-month variances
  • Provide compliance information, maintenance, safety and permitting updates to Manager; participate in routine meetings with Company Waste Engineer to review outstanding issues and/or accomplishments
  • Participate in weekly contractor safety audits
  • Attend annual site-specific RCRA training and other required site-required training (i.e. Safety Training)
  • Understand expected job profitability by scheduling and managing resources efficiently
  • Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules and observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines
  • This is an 8-hour/day position with occasional extended hours, holiday and weekend work for emergencies and/or other needs; “on-call” land-based emergency spill response may be required—respond to the site with supervision and labor, as directed, within 3 hours
