About the Role The Sales Manager is responsible for growing revenue, developing customer relationships, and managing commercial activity from RFQ through purchase order and delivery. This role combines technical sales, cost estimating, contract management, customer service, and close coordination with Engineering, Planning, Procurement, Production, and Quality. The successful candidate will be comfortable reviewing engineering drawings, building competitive and profitable quotes, negotiating long-term agreements, and resolving issues that affect customer commitments. They will also help improve the systems and processes used to manage pricing, orders, forecasts, and customer communication. Responsibilities Sales and Customer Relationships Develop business with aerospace OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and other customers seeking build-to-print components and special processing. Grow existing accounts by identifying new part numbers, programs, and opportunities across customer locations. Build relationships with purchasing, supply chain, engineering, and program teams. Lead customer discussions on pricing, capacity, lead times, delivery performance, and new business opportunities. Resolve commercial escalations and work with internal teams to address issues affecting customer satisfaction. Maintain a clear view of opportunities, RFQs, bookings, revenue, and account performance. RFQs, Estimating, and Pricing Manage the RFQ process from receipt through technical review, costing, approval, submission, and follow-up. Review drawings, specifications, quantities, and customer requirements with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Procurement to confirm manufacturability and scope. Develop estimates covering material, machining, setup, programming, labour, outside processing, quality requirements, packaging, and other applicable costs. Establish pricing strategies for new parts, repeat orders, quantity breaks, and long-term programs. Review margins and cost changes, including material, labour, processing, and inflation, before committing to prices. Maintain consistent quoting methods and improve the accuracy, speed, and traceability of estimates. Contracts and Order Management Lead commercial reviews and negotiations for purchase orders, long-term agreements, pricing revisions, and changes in customer requirements. Coordinate contract review to confirm pricing, part revision, quantity, delivery schedule, quality requirements, and applicable customer flow-downs. Work with Planning and Operations to assess capacity and provide realistic lead times. Monitor open orders and major programs, escalating delivery or supply risks early. Coordinate with customers and internal teams when schedules, specifications, or commercial terms change. Planning and Cross-Functional Leadership Partner with Engineering, Planning, Procurement, Production, and Quality to align customer demand with available capacity and materials. Support production priorities and follow through on commitments made to customers. Use ERP data and reporting tools to monitor bookings, releases, finished jobs, shipments, backlog, and delivery performance. Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, account reviews, and performance updates for leadership. Identify process gaps and lead practical improvements to quoting, order entry, reporting, and communication. Coach and support sales or customer service team members, as assigned. Qualifications Experience in technical sales, estimating, account management, or commercial leadership within aerospace or precision manufacturing. Strong understanding of build-to-print manufacturing, particularly CNC machined or formed components. Ability to read engineering drawings and understand specifications, revisions, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements. Experience preparing RFQs, cost estimates, and quotations for both new and repeat production. Experience managing customer accounts, purchase orders, and long-term agreements.
