About the Role

A leading Healthcare Pharmacy enterprise is seeking a visionary and operationally sound Senior Manager of Inpatient Pharmacy Operations to champion strategic excellence across their acute care pharmacy enterprise. In this role, you won't just manage workflows—you will serve as a crucial bridge between pharmacy practice, multidisciplinary hospital executives, and clinical leadership.

Operating in a fast-paced, 24/7/365 acute care hospital environment, you will have true ownership over operational budgets, clinical workflows, and talent development. If you are passionate about fostering cross-functional collaboration, driving safe and cost-effective pharmacotherapy solutions, and building high-performing teams, we want to talk to you.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Strategic Leadership

  • Translate Strategy to Action: Convert high-level business plans into daily tactical goals, managing resources, operational costs, and forecasting needs across multiple inpatient units.
  • Champion Talent: Directly lead, mentor, and advocate for supervisory personnel, pharmacists, interns, and technicians. Oversee performance management guidelines, open coaching loops, and robust succession planning.
  • Build Bridges: Establish strong collaborative relationships with Medical Centre Leaders (including Nursing, Physicians, Lab, and Infusion) to streamline practices and align clinical priorities.

Clinical & Drug Use Management

  • Optimize Care & Compliance: Design, evaluate, and implement complex pharmacotherapeutic drug regimen guidelines and advanced workflows that improve patient care and compliance.
  • Trend Analysis & Supply Chain: Partner with senior healthcare providers to analyse market trends and upcoming medications, forecasting their impact on utilization. Leverage inventory data to escalate drug availability issues enterprise wide.
  • Formulary & Compounding Oversight: Approve updates to compounding master formulas, formulary dispensing records, and pharmacy software templates.

Governance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure Regulatory Excellence: Maintain absolute compliance across teams with state/federal laws and regulatory bodies (including the DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, and HIPAA).
  • Resolve Complex Inquiries: Act as the ultimate escalation point for complex process outcomes or member inquiries, utilizing innovation and ingenuity to resolve systemic issues.

Position Requirements

Must-Haves (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Education: Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent degree (e.g., Bachelor of Pharmacy from an accredited school).
  • Licensure: Active Washington State Pharmacist License is strictly required at the time of hire (or must be fully cleared to practice by start date). National Provider Identifier (NPI#) required within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience & Leadership (One of the following tracks):
    • Completion of a PGY1 residency plus a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pharmacist/Intern.

  • People Management: At least 3 years of experience in a direct leadership role with full accountability for direct reports (including solid-line hire/fire authority) in a hospital setting.
  • Budget Accountability: At least 2 years of experience directly managing operational or project budgets.

Highly Valued Skills & Experiences (Nice-to-Haves)

  • Leadership experience within a 24/7/365 acute care, inpatient hospital environment.
  • Completion of a PGY1 or PGY2 residency.
  • Familiarity working within and navigating a Union environment.
  • Specialized clinical background or oversight in Critical Care/ICU, Med-Surg, Infusion, or Emergency/Urgent Care.
  • Hands-on experience helping steer hospital expansion or scaling efforts.
