The Resource CoIndirect Buyer – Startup Manufacturing Facility Location: Eden, NC Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire - work performed fully onsite Target Salary: $56,000–$73,000+ depending on experience About the Opportunity A growing startup manufacturing facility with global reach is expanding its operations in Eden, NC, and is seeking an experienced Indirect Buyer to support the purchasing needs of its new production operation. This is an opportunity to join a developing manufacturing environment where purchasing will play an important role in supporting day-to-day plant operations. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on purchasing/procurement experience within a manufacturing environment , with a strong understanding of the materials, supplies, services, and vendor relationships necessary to keep a production floor operating efficiently. This position will serve as a key local purchasing resource while working closely with a broader international Purchasing team. What You'll Do Manage purchasing activities for indirect materials and services supporting the manufacturing facility. Support the production floor by purchasing MRO materials, tools, PPE, consumables, maintenance supplies, packaging, facility services, and other indirect materials . Review internal purchasing requests and work with departments to clarify requirements, priorities, and delivery needs. Obtain and analyze supplier quotations and negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, delivery requirements, and other commercial conditions. Identify and evaluate local and regional suppliers to support plant operations. Issue and maintain purchase orders in accordance with company policies and approval procedures. Monitor open purchase orders and proactively follow up with suppliers regarding delivery dates and potential delays. Communicate supplier and delivery issues to internal stakeholders and help resolve problems that could impact plant operations. Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, and purchase-order information within the ERP system. Monitor supplier responsiveness and delivery performance. Identify opportunities for cost savings, supplier alternatives, purchasing consolidation, and improved processes. Support sourcing and benchmarking activities for indirect purchasing categories. Help develop and continuously improve purchasing processes and procedures as the manufacturing operation grows. Work closely with the international Purchasing team to coordinate local purchasing needs and priorities. What We're Looking For Manufacturing purchasing/procurement experience is required. The successful candidate will have experience purchasing materials, supplies, equipment, or services in direct support of a manufacturing production facility or production floor . This is not intended to be a general office-supplies purchasing role. Additional qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or sourcing within an industrial or manufacturing environment . Experience supporting production, maintenance, facilities, or plant operations. Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation skills. Experience obtaining and comparing supplier quotations. Familiarity with ERP systems and purchasing/procurement software. Strong follow-through and the ability to monitor multiple purchase orders and supplier commitments. Ability to prioritize competing needs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with both local plant personnel and international teams. Why This Opportunity?
